The Winter Naturalist program typically starts on the 3rd Saturday of December. The schedule is as follows:Wednesday, Friday, Saturday mornings leaving the Nordic Center at 10:30 for a Snowshoe Tour. Wednesday and Friday afternoons leaving the top of Apres Vous at 1:30 for an Alpine Tour.The Naturalists are Bridger-Teton Forest Service employees.
The program is free and guests need a valid nordic track pass and/or lift ticket to participate. Snowshoes are available for rent through the Nordic Center. Alpine equipment is available for rent through Jackson Hole Sports. Topics include, though not limited to: Winter ecology, winter adaptations, human and natural history, public vs. private land use, and avalanche awareness. We encourage all employees to take advantage of this exciting program and learn more about this special area.
