My husband and I are advanced skiers and we had a great time skiing here. The mountain is extremely chanllenging for advanced skiers. If you want extreme skiing, you can also hike to many other runs, but I would take a guide with you unless you are familiar with the mountain. The restaurants at the village and in town are great too. We can't wait to come back and bring the kids next year.

Jackson will make you cry wanting more abuse the next day. The mountain is unforgiving treat it with respect and you can have an awesome time. If you think you have skill I guarantee Jackson can test your expert ability. Best powder awesome back country amazing scenery you can not beat this place. Go here just to ski and nothing else and leave all worries back at home. Jackson is a snowboarders heaven.

I have to respectfully disagree with the previous review. Jackson Hole is amazing. Richard, did you not know anything about this place before you went there. JH is not a namby pampy ski resort that is all groomers and people sitting around drinking hot chocolate. This is a serious mountain for people who want to enjoy skiing and boarding the way it should be. JH gets ridiculous amounts of snow and conditions are incredible all season long.

In regards to the distance of Jackson from Teton Village, 10 miles is hardly far and there are taxis and buses that make the trip all day long. Hardly an inconvenience but I guess some people are prissy little whiners.

Finally, the terrain at JH is amazing. This is real bowl skiing which allows you to make your own way down and explore the mountain. Just point your board or sticks downhill and let it rip, forget about worrying about staying on certain runs. It all leads to the bottom.

JH is one of the best ski areas in the world and do not miss an opportunity to make some turns at this place.

Nearly ALL of the trails were moguls! And the few which weren't covered with bumps were very choppy due to poor grooming. Dissappointing variety of terrain and there is little to separate different trails, making it confusing to know where you are skiing. Also, the town of Jackson is a painfully long drive to and from the mountain.

If you love freeride, look no further, next to its definition is this resort. Easy acess out of bounds, remember you're gear, and awesome inbounds terrain. The tram is great, 4100+ vert in one lift. 460+ inches a year, the only lift lines are at the tram. Wait, Jackson sucks don't come here and ride the tram, stay away.

I made the choice as to where my family would take their first ski vacation (mum, dad, me (23) and my sister (18)). We had always wanted to visit the mid-west and after reading all the reviews we settled on Jackson Hole. After a mammoth journey (Dublin-Atalanta - Salt Lake City - Jackson Hole) I began to have concerns as to whether the difficult terrain everyone talks about would make the resort seem a little hostile to us beginners. I could not have been more wrong. I am so glad I had not paid much attention to all the reviews telling beginners to stay away, that to ski Jackson Hole was biting off more than we could chew. Firstly, the ski school was excellent. We were there on one of the busiest weeks of the year and ended up having an instructor for just the four of us (without paying for private lessons). After two days we were starting to resemble skiiers and handling the fairly steep beginners slopes. For beginners I would say Jackon Hole is 'the' place to learn to ski - it's tougher than most places apparently but if you can handle it you can handle anywhere and having so many excellent skiiers around only motivates you to be better. My Dad and I also signed up for a cross country group ski lesson at the Nordic ski school and again it was just the two of us and our instructor, with almost empty trails. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and didn't make us feel at all that we shouldn't be there (unlike Grand Targhee). I just loved everything about Jackson Hole - the atmosphere, the scenery and of course the skiing.

Jackson Hole is my favorite ski resort. It combines the western spirit with first class accomadations and of course, a great and challenging mountain! We have visited JH three times with our most recent visit February, 2005. First the mountain. We visited the first week of February and there were no crowds, no long lines. While JH is challenging there were plenty of moderate runs for my wife and I. She is a skier and I am a boarder and we both felt welcome. She has used a ski intructor two times and always found them knowlegedable, patient and very friendly. A good way to go if you need a little fine tuning.
We have stayed at both the Four Seasons and the Amangani. While the hotels are very unique and differnt both offer first class service. The Amangani is a few miles from the mountain but has an nice facility at the base of the mountain to relax and store your gear. The hotel has a Asian flair and is very relaxing. The rooms are suites and a big departure from the standard hotels rooms most of us are use to. It is worth the visit. The Four Seasons is located at the base of the JH mountain and has a wonderful western lodge feel. The service was equally outstanding. The rooms were large and very nice. The food in both the cafe and formal dining was excellent. The Four Seasons is a bit more lively than the Amangani which could be good or bad depending on what you are looking for. You cant go wrong with either hotel. Then of course, you have the JD village, other outdoor activiites, Yellowstone trips etc. We just love it and plan to return this year.
