Just got through with a weekend there...
Good points:
- highest vertical around, and most of the trails use all 500 feet.
- the two greens at the top, accessed by the 000 chair, would be a great place to learn. They are uncrowded and very gentle, but not too boring.
- Baraboo is close with cheap lodging and good restaurants.
- couple of long blues, and (for the area) some mildly exciting blacks
- good opportunities for some off-piste tree skiing.
Bad points:
- Old lifts with no footrest/safety bar, and a lot of times they nail you in the back while you are loading.
- Ski shop is really a souvenir store. Don't go there in need of gear.
- Beer selection is an embarrassment to the state of Wisconsin (problem solved with a sixer waiting in the car) and the food is quite a ripoff.

I had written a review for Devil's Head a year or two ago (probably 2), but has since disappeared. Being in consideration for another trip up, I thought I would relive my experience by looking up the old review. Since it is no longer, I decided to rewrite said review. The accuracy is going to be a bit off, seeing as 2+ years have lapsed (probably 3) since that lone trip.
Terrain: Devil's Head has terrific terrain for a midwestern 'resort'. It has one very long, gentle green slope for the beginners, and plenty of blues and blacks for the more accomplished. When I was there, they also had 2 mogul runs, one on a blue run and one on a black run. Unusual for a small MW hill to have a single mogul run, let alone two of them. Outside of the long green run, the blues and blacks are relatively short, but that is typical of midwestern hills.
Service: Can't really comment here. My only complaint is that the hill is full of antiquated fixed-grip chair lifts. And man are they slow! They would do well to upgrade to a high-speed quad at some of the more congested areas. A single high speed lift would make a world of difference. After reading some other reviews, I have to question their food service in the lodges. Leaving on a Monday, I came down with food poisioning the day I left, making for a VERY miserable 5.5 hour drive back to Indianapolis. I seriously wanted to die that day. I don't ever recall being that miserably sick. Stay away from the Chicken fingers...
Crowds: I was there on a long weekend, but don't recall the crowds being too bad. The slow chairs makes any high traffic days that much more so, however.
Activities: Not much else to do but ski. I don't even recall if they had snow tubing, not that it would matter much in my book. I was there purely for the skiing.
Value: They do have nice lodging deals that include meals. The trip was bankrolled by my parents, so I don't recall the impact Devil's Head had on my wallet.
All in all, a nice place to ski or ride in the midwest. If you don't have the time or the resources to get out into the Rockies, Devil's Head is a decent midwestern choice. It's probably the 3rd best MW ski hill I've visited (1. Mt. Bohemia, MI; 2. Granite Peak, WI / Caberfae Peaks, MI; 3. Devil's Head, WI)

The skiing is great, the Inn is horribly outdated. No hot water for a shower, frigerator missing from mini bar, which was an EMPTY cabinet. There idea of a mini bar was 2 bottles of warm Dansani water on the bureau for $2.75 each. Attendants and instructors were superb. Ski here, but lodge up the road! Food was just alright considering there were only 2 options at any one time day or night. In the cafeteria,French fries were cold by 11:15 AM.I had to wonder if they were left from previous night?

Best skiing in the area. Always good snow and a good selection of runs. Maybe not enogh greens, but plenty of blues and blacks to play with. Lifts are pretty much the only annoying thing, since most are doubles and they are slow and uncomfortable, I always manage to get hit in the back by the divider bar. Food at Devil's Head is amazing for a ski resort. You have a choice of a cafe that serves great hot chocolate, a diner, and a restaurant. Since all are accomdated by the same kitchen, variety is not that great, but quality of the food is tremendous. Whether you pick the sandwich at the diner, or a steak at the restaurant you will not be sorry. Living in Chicago it is more than worth the 3 hour drive, and there is nothing in the vacinity that compare making the DH the ultimate skiing selection in the upper Midwest.

I went to Devil's Head last season and had a great time. On our first night there the chairlift took us up halfway and I thought that we would get off there! Amazing terrain park from top to bottom. I also here that they are making new runs for the upcoming season.

For Wisconsin the terrain is some of the best you can get. The intermediates are longer than most in the area and blacks are a little short. Both times I went there was only one beginner run open besides the bunny hill. The lodging is nothing great but I go there to ski not sit in a room so as long as I have a bed I'm happy. Lift operators are...different.
Overall this is a great place for beginner/intermediate skiers because of no crowds even on weekends! and not bad for blacks but blacks are a lot better at Cascade a couple miles away. Also the lifts are really slow. The only complaint about that place.

Arrived 3/5 prior to a 3" dump! Sunday was a great day skiing in fresh fluff! I really enjoyed
the blue and black terrain all day-n-night.Monday
was real good first thing in the morning. No one out yet...just us die hards! All the lifts were not running(not enough people) and the tuff stuff
took quite a traverse. This is a great deal lifts,
lodging and two meals for $85..."I'll take two please."Staying in the Inn one has a long walk to
the lifts. The stroll is all enclosed.Grab your gear put ones house slippers on and meander to the
LiftHaus. I just left my slippers in the corner.
Skiied for six hours(time for a meal) put my slippers back on and strolled over to Dantes.Presented my coupon and a tip and then meandered back to my boots. After another 4 hours on the slopes...I'm beat now. Put slippers back on
grab gear stroll back to the Inn. After outdoor hot tub, they have 3 nestled into an area off by themselves, shower I was ready for supper.Off to
Cornucopia. I presented another coupon and tip and
then off to bed. Monday did the same routine AGAIN! This place is great and I'll be back. One
complaint is old slow lifts. ThumbsUp
