descent terrain for the area depending on what day you go. try to avoid friday night and the weekend otherwise it might get a little crowded. also try to aviod it after a string of subzero weather because the base lay can get very icy. the black diamond runs are basicall the same and can get a little boring. The most diverse terrain is on the beginner/intermediate trails so going there and goofing off by finding a jump in the woods or playing best trick on your board. The terrain Park is very well kept and constanly canging but also the most crowded place in the park but a few runs through it are always fun.
PS: super nachos is the choice food there

The short
overpriced and poorly managed. The long
Alpine Valley is one of the few options available for downhill skiing in Southeast Wisconsin. Although this hill is half Mother Nature and half man made, it has fairly decent terrain for the area. A couple black runs and a terrain park for the adventurous offer the only highlights here. All runs are pretty much identical to each other and are mostly for the beginner to intermediate. Last weekend was my first trip to the resort and will most likely by my last. Driving into the parking lot promptly at opening on a Saturday, I was surprised to find the place packed. The local junior racing league was holding a meet, which did not happed to be posted on the resort website the day before. Only after getting on the chair lift did I notice that two of the main runs were closed and off limits for this. It wouldnt be such a big deal (it is junior racing after all), but it closed most of the hill that had any decent terrain. After an hour and a half the parking lot was full and the only black run left open was too packed to enjoy any more. I packed up and issued a formal complaint with management, only to be told I should have checked the website and that they did not have any control over the portions of the hill closed. ?? On top of this, they had the boldness to charge the full price of $39 per lift ticket. If driving an extra hour or two to a better resort is out of the question, make sure to call for any events before you make the trip, otherwise settle for sledding in your back yard.

Not bad for a midwest resort. Employees didn't seem real happy. More like they were just there for the job. Don't know if it is exactly 488 foot vertical, but it wasn't bad.
I have a detailed review at:

For starters, send a family member ahead to buy your lift tickets while everybody else boots up. If you can avoid the weekends you'll be happier since it does it crowded (paritally because the lift lines load in from both sides and people get grumpy about that). The quads are great, but kind of overkill...it takes only a few minutes to get to the top on any sort of lift. The two main black runs will give you a little thrill for a couple of seconds, but nothing here is going to blow you away. Still, Alpine sticks out of flat farmland, there's nothing else around and it's pretty much the best in the area. Snow cover is always good since they have a snow machine about every 20 feet (don't run into them...none are padded). The food is nothing to get excited about, believe me (unless you've got that hankering for a $4.25 cardboard cafeteria hamburger). Don't expect people to talk to you on the lifts or even look at you. Maybe it's because most of the cars in the parking lot are from Illinois. Not that folks from Wisconsin are the nicest bunch either...
