If only there was a place like this in Europe. I couldn't believe how empty the slopes were. A great place to enjoy skiing.

I love this place! This is the place to be on the weekends. If you hate the Killington crowd but love thier terrain, this is should be your destination. I've found as good, if not better runs here. I'm a powderhound and you can almost always find freshies at 4:00opm on your last run. Just look into a cranny and you'll find plenty of stuff to keep you busy all day long, and make 3 times the laps you would at the K'.

I spent a half-day at Pico in early March. Conditions were horrible -- they kept "open" trails that had exposed rocks and large patches of grass. The online trail report listed 50% of the trails open, but only about 25% were actually skiable. In spite of this, it appears that the mountain has very good terrain if snow conditions were better. The two black runs open were quite steep and challenging. I payed the extra $23 and upgraded to a Killington lift pass. Killington's slopes (3 miles away) were in MUCH better shape. Pico seems to have very poor snowmaking capabilities. In spite of a warm winter, all nearly resorts were 70-90% open. Pico was only (realisticly) about 25% open. I heard from a guy on the lift that since Killington took over Pico they have largely neglected it. In a warm winter, they focus most of thier money on snowmaking at Killington rather than at Pico. Bottom line, it looks like a good mountain only if there is a significant amount of NATURAL snow.

Great place to avoid the Killington crowds - even for the children's programs! Our 3 year old son was at Killington stuck on the Magic Carpet, but we transferred him to Pico and in 3 days he was riding lifts and skiing green & blue trails!
