Terrain: 3 Mount snow has loads of skiing for all abilities, and is good in that way. I was not able to do ripcord, but I loved the trail Jaws. I also liked choke, because it was narrow at first and I like that when you are forced to go fast. Unfortunately, the terrain is not without downfalls. Each area has basically only one kind of trail(one area with mainly blues, one blacks, one greens). This means that skiers and riders only aiming at a certain type of terrain do not get to see that much of the mountain. Also the trails all end up at the base lodge(well almost all of them)which makes this pretty boring. I would not reccomend this place to a beginner who could not bear to only see the magic carpet.

Service: 2 I only gave it the rating because I had a burger and then got sick, but it might have nothing to do with the burger at all.

Crowds: 2 I am someone who loves blacks, and I was annoyed because I had to wait 6 hours in a line for the black diamond chairlift.

Activities: 3 I did none of them

Value: 3 it is fairly priced

Mount Snow is my favorite mountain. The trails are excellent up until about 3:00, then it gets a little sketchy. The staff is very enthusiastic and seem tolike what they do. The terrain parks could have a little wore variety like Okemo, but other than that the terrain is good. I think the lift ticket prices are a little high. The one bad thing about the mountain is the crowd, but the staff does an excellent job of oraganizing the lines so that they moves as fast as possible. Make the trip to Mount Snow.

this place is really cool and i did RIPCORD, like cliff sking in the east. I see that people are comparing this resort to vail and let m tell you, Is there really any comparison? vail of course is better but if you look at this place compare to eastern skiing this place is top 5. This place can be crowded but it is spaced well enough but dont go to deer run if you like being spread out. This place has definetly the best night life in that area, All that mountain needs is more snow and it would be great. This place is easy to get to. Much easier to get to then vail. Tis resort is my favorite around.

read todd's review for a synopsis of what mount snow is- overpriced, overbuilt, filled with new yorkers.

though 'snow does have some ok terrain. glades like the trials and darkside of the moon come to mind as fun, and at times, challenging.

overall, not worth the time or money- unless you have money to blow like a new yorker, and don't value your time. and you want to be around crowds, the majority of which cannot ski or ride well.

I’ve skied at mount snow for almost 20 years and is even a place where I work on occasion, so this review is going to be as honest as I can make it. It’s a great place to ski for intermediates as well as for beginners. Seeing as the mountain is accessible to large cities such as Boston and New York, I can see why so many people like it. Mt Snow has got a nightlife that is above average for its southern Vermont location (however its completely dead in the summer). Mount Snow is a ski resort in every meaning of the word but it is definitely more of a resort than a mountain. We are talking about actual skiing of course and the most important part of skiing is the mountain itself and the services. As an expert skier there is only one thing for me to say about the terrain...it’s flat. The only part of the mountain that is somewhat challenging is the north face, which is very short, and although it may have some glades here and there it’s not enough to make up for its boring terrain. The park is great and is one of the best in Vermont, if that’s what you’re into, and it should be… because that’s all it really has going for it. Snowfall is a measly 166in a year (as claimed by their website) and the lifeline crowds sometimes make me feel as if I am stuck in traffic rather than at a ski resort. The mountain has grown to be very corporate over the past 10 years, where ticket prices are almost $70 a day and a cheeseburger will cost you about $8. In general, the mountain is overpriced and I would never ski there if it wasn’t for the pass that I am fortunate enough to get. If you want a place to take your family and have a fat wallet and actual skiing is not on your list of priorities, go to Mount Snow. If skiing is one of your priorities and you want challenging terrain I would recommend making the extra hour or two drive to Stowe, Mad River Glen, Sugarbush, or Killington (and I am just limiting myself to just Vermont). If you are willing to make the trip defiantly go to Jay Peak or even Tremblant. For $58 a day,$35 if you are a student, you can go to Jay and get amazing (east cost) terrain with more than twice the amount of annual snow, at 355 inches a year (during 2001-2002 Jay got 414 inches of snow). For those who are not familiar with annual snowfall totals, Vail Co. gets 350 inches annually. And there are no lines….ever…even on 3ft + powder days (yes feet not inches). Of course we are looking at the mountain as a whole and though Jay does not have anywhere near the services or nightlife that mount snow does, the 30 minute wait to go up to the top at mount snow just doesn’t make a $70 dollar ticket price seem worth it for me. This, amongst a lot of other reasons, is probably why you have not seen Mount Snow even close to one of the top 5 resorts in the east in any ski magazines very often…. if ever.

Overall Mount Snow is a great place to ski. The four mountain faces offer a great variety of trails that please those who ski and ride at all levels. The North Face is great for more advanced skiing and boarding as it is home to most of the mountain's diamond trails. The Main Face and Carinthia offer great blue and green trails, while Sunbrook has some easier blue trails for those wishing to progress from beginner skiing to intermediate skiing. I personally enjoyed Chute and Jaws on the Northface, Thanks Walt in Sunbrook, Mine Shaft and Narrow Gage in Carinthia, and Ego Alley, Sundance, Standard, and Uncles on the Main Face. Mount Snow also has some great terrain parks, each with a different level of difficulty. The lift service at Mount Snow is decent. However, the three express lifts can get crowded quickly on weekends, it's best to ski on the weekdays if possible. Also, try to avoid the Sunbrook Quad lift, it's really slow and located on the backside of the mountain near the summit, which makes for a very cold ride. Mount Snow, because it is the closest large mountain to many major northeast cities, becomes very crowded on weekends and holidays, but avoids big crowds during the work week. If you go to Mount Snow on a weekday the crowds will not be a problem at all. Even on days where it is crowded the trails are rather empty, it's just the lift lines and lodges that get crowded. Mount snow offers four lodges, including three at the base and one at the summit. Their lodges need some work and can get crowded, if you want to avoid the crowds head over to Carinthia Base Lodge or the Sundance Base Lodge. Snow and weather conditions at Mount Snow are usually decent, especially in February and March. Finally, West Dover and the village of Wilmington
(near Mount Snow) offer great resturants, places to stay, and fun activities. I go to Mount Snow to ski often and enjoy it very much. I learned how to ski there (great learning programs) and continue to ski there often for some great skiing not too far away from home!

Weekends you start off at Carinthia for skiing and travel the whole mountain. Lunch at Carinthia, no crowds. When crowds are huge the area can move lots of skiers and the workers are young and enthusiastic. 2:00 pm til closing is the best. Crowds thin out. Night life in Wilmington and Rt 100 is fun and friendly. Sundays and any day in March is great.
