Here is the good and bad.
Good - The slopes are sperated into three sections based on difficulty. This minimizes the expert skier having to weave around a crowd of beginners. The runs, especially on the highland express are longer than most southeast resorts.
Bad - Can be extremely crowded and the snow conditions can be iffy.
Defintely the second best ski resort in the south after Snowshoe. Much more convinient than snowshoe so I end up here at least once every year.

Limited # of trails. This place would be much better if they cut the trails in the middle & the skiiers right of the mountain to match the vertical of the mountain on the skiiers left. The trails are not steep so it is a good place for beginners and small children.

As one reviewer pointed out... it ain't like skiing out west, but its pretty darn good for the east coast.
If you can go during the mornin monday thru friday, there is no one there!
Overall, really good for a day or weekend trip!

This resort was by far the best one on the east coast. The staff couldn't have been any better and I love the atmostphere within the Blue Ridge Mountains. I am looking into possibly getting some land up there and take advantage of their Property Owner benifits. I love Wintergreen and it is my choice of Ski Resorts on the east coast!!!

I'm at wintergreen most weekends. It's great if you have a freind with a house there, and a pass to skip the lift lines. Best time to ski is EARLY. It is deserted for the first 2 hours, and if they've had fresh real snow (rare) it'll all be gone by 12. If you don't know a property owner who you can skip the lift lines with, the best thing to do is be on the slopes when it opens, and take a break from 12:30 - 3:30 then come back for night skiing, especially if you're skiing in the intermediate and beginner areas. If you're skiing on the highlands, the new high speed lift helped alot, and the lift lines rarely get unbareable there. It's an okay value if you can stay at your freinds house, but otherwise lodging (in wintergreen owned properties) and lift tickets are very pricy, and the food is exorborant - the only reasonably priced place to grab food is the black rock general store at the deli counter, you can get sandwiches and stuff - or bring food and burry it in the snow for lunch. There's no really difficult terrain. The highlands can be hard, but that's usually because of conditions (ice sheets, slush "moguls", dodging rocks) not because of steepness etc. The inner top part of eagles swoop is actually one of the "steepest" parts of the mountain, you can get some nice airs off of it. The terrain park they've done alot to improve in the past couple of years, it's not huge, but it generally has 3 jumps, 3ish rails, a vw bug to grind, and pretty big spine, and a pathetic attempt at a quarter/half pipe. During the summer, the mountain biking is pretty good, and there's tons of stuff to do, tennis, golf, hiking, etc.

This is a great resort for a day trip. The terrain doesn't even compare to Winter Park, my home resort. There are no trails through the woods, bowls, etc. But you do skip some of the hassles of the larger resorts. The way they do rental is amazing! Very efficient. We had a great time and I recommend it.
