I love Utah, the greatest snow on earth is almost always a reliable fact. The airport is efficient and very close to the resorts. Park City, Deer Valley & The Canyons offer free skiing on the day you travel. Park City is a great ski town, the mountain, however, has the "flats". It seems to get from point A to point B often entails skating, hiking or just boring cruising. If you love Utah conditions and don't mind the bizzare liquor laws, Park City is a fun town. If you want non-stop steeps and thrills, go to Snowbird/Alta.

We were at PC the week of 1/7/8 so crowds were not a large issue. The good part of the PC experience was the shuttles and public transportation available. We easily went to Deer Valley or the Canyons as well as any areas in PC. I will not rent a vehicle for my trip next year. The lower altitude is also good for young children to avoid altitude sickness. The two items above made the overall experience great.

Went to PC in March of 07 during Spring Break. Crowds weren't really an issue, but warm spell (70 degrees) made for lousy skiing conditions (slush, slush, slush). PC is great for intermediate cruisers. However, wasn't that impressed with the town and the warm weather kinda ruined my first trip out west skiing. But can't do nothing bout the weather.

Park City is one of my new favorite ski resorts. The town itself is wonderful, though a little bit posh for my tastes. I've not been to Aspen, but I can imagine they're similar in their clientele.

Terrain - 4

Expert skiers probably wouldn't like Park City. There aren't many steeps or glades. Jupiter peak looks pretty gnarly, but I was there early season and it hadn't even been tracked up. Mostly Blue cruisers at PCMR. Great for family vacations. Was there 2nd week in December, so a lot of terrain was yet to open.

Service - 4

I really have nothing on which to base this rating. I bring my own equipment, so I don't have to deal with rental shops. Buying lift tickts was no different than at any other resort...find discounts or stand in line at the ticket office. Didn't use the ski school, so can't comment about the competence or experience with instructors. Patrol was friendly, I suppose. I don't think I had to deal with them once.

Crowds - 4

Was there midweek, when crowds are small. It was also early season, cutting down on the amount of tourists greatly. Afternoons, especially after the local schools let out, were particularly crowded.

Activities - 5

There's just about anything you want to do in the area. There's far better skiing within 45 minute's drive and the town of Park City is alive. Utah's alcohol laws (3.2% beer?!?) kind of douse the party flames a bit however. There's tons of shopping, any kind of food you could ask for. I just went for the skiing myself.

Value 3

This is where PC gets you. As with any Ski resort, everything is pricey. $45 life tickets when only half the mountain is open (if that much) was a little irritating. Espeically considering you can find some of the world's best skiing and snow, an hour away, at Alta for $48 peak season. The combined ticket for Alta and the Bird is only 6 or 7 ($71, I believe) dollars more expensive than the PCMR's ($65 peak season).

Park City earned its name Easy Acres for a reason; its boring, lackluster terrain is perfect for people that need a financial break from a Deer Valley lift ticket.

Having lived in Utah for eleven years now, I am constantly amazed of PCMRs popularity. And who says marketing and advertising do not pay off? The only worthy resort in the Park City area is The Canyons (where I have had a seasons pass for eleven winters), however perhaps the real turnoff is the town of Park City. It is literally out of control with strip mall culture, Hummers and overbuilding (and The Canyons should also be ashamed for what they have contributed in concrete, as well).

If you want a true ski town experience (sans t shirt shops every five feet and overpriced restaurants that pale in comparison to other resort towns) I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. Again the reosrt of Park City Mountain is BORING.

Honesty can be painful.

the freeriding sucks here. hardly any tree riding. The terrain isnt that spectacular. The park is nice though. But the crowds are rediculas. I waited 25 min. on a lift there. Besides that Park city is lower in elevation then cottonwood resorts, they dont recieve as much snow, and its generaly warmer in pc too. I wouldnt bother with park city unless all you do are laps through the park all day and hardly ever free ride, or if you are the type of person who just likes to do a half day of skiing or snowboarding and then go shoping the rest of the day at the pc outlets.

Well it is July but I have nothing to do so here is this review. Went to PC for the 1st time, actually 1st time skiing here this Feb for a week. 2 days at PCR the rest at the canyons. I would say this is one of the best resorts I have skiied in the west. Since I missed the pow days I just assume they be super fun, but for sunny days, it was pretty fun too. the people there were very nice, lift lines were pretty short. I did hardly spend anytime at blue runs for carving because there signature groomed black runs were superb, very few people too, why carve the blues when you can carve groomed blacks? and their groomed blues were somehow crowded and skiied down rather fast, almost became bump runs in the afternoon. one complain is that they should upgrade the triple chair called motherload and that double ski team to highspeed ones, these two are the ones both serving groomed blacks and the only ones on two whole mountain faces, and they are slow like hell, that ski team actually takes 10-15 mins to get to the top, really a leg killer. other than carving, I spent the rest of my day at juniper lift, double blacks? not really, but they were bumpy like hell, the entire jupiter bown and west face were skiied down to bumps only, and the scott bowl crud you would have to hike for 20 mins, even the lines from last pow day were few, the hike was too long, they need to put up another lift there. after all, their signature runs alone are worth going, few resorts offer so many groomed carving blacks as PCR does. the Canyons did not even have a single one like that. the other resort I know offer such things is the hidden Diamond Peak in lake tahoe, a 600 acre resort offer almost long groomed blacks. the other bad thing about skiing in utah is their super expensive season passes, at these big resorts, they charge more than 1k, I mean, come on, in colorado, for 350 you get unlimited ski at big B, keystone, and A basin and 10 days at vail and beaver, and they have just the same number of resorts there, so is lake tahoe area. anyway, I would come back at least once just to experience their pow days, or I will just go to lake tahoe, everything is so cheap there, even cheaper if you stay in reno, and reno is just 30 mins to mt. rose, home to the CHUTES.

I work Here, and The service here is unrivled. Some of the best terrain in Utah, and of course Utah snow is the best. If you're not the greatest Park City offers the best beginner to intermediate terrain in Utah. The Instructors are very good. If you come, be preparred to spend money though. It is worth it though.

Park City has some great terrain and has a lot of options for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. It can get pretty crowded but most the lifts are high speeds so lines aren't really a problem.
