I snowboarded Garceau for three days on a school trip, and probably wouldn't have found it any other way. I do have a some experience is the west, so the high ratings aren't "I've never skiied before this place must be awesome" BS.
Nice terrain, awesome snow, no crowds, good prices, decent park. Only thing keeping this place from being great is the lifts. High speed quads would really make this place worth while.
Good for beginners and intermediates, with good lessons. Magic carpet for non-skiers, helpful staff. You better know how to speak french here, though, it isn't as americanized as most places.
While there is terrain that could satisfy experinced riders (some small glade sections, some mogul runs and even a couple cliff hops on the double blacks), the lifts are too damn slow to get much done.
The lodge is real small, but the caf prices (and lift prices) are better than at most hills.
Overall, the only thing keeping this from being a real hidden jem are the slow lifts. But hey, it's better to be on the lift for an hour than wait double that in a lift line.
