Fun place to ski with a BIG vertical and TONS of slopes. Has a nice mix of slopes and something to offer for all abilities. The East Peak Lift was SO fast, no question asked. It wasn't crowded when I went (probably because it was Friday morning). They have a nice terrain park and snow tubing as well. The snow wasn't perfect as it was late in the season, but it was still good overall.

I haven't been to Windham for a few years and when I arrived on 2/24, I noticed how much more attentive they were than the neighboring Hunter Mountain. There were quite a few new additions like a high speed quad, redone double, and quite a few new additions, I was wondering why Hunter hasn't changed in the last 10 years or so. That is until I hit the trails. Its like all the money going to the extra staff at the lift but none gone for the snowmaking or grooming. All but one of the diamond and double diamond trails were groomed from the night before, and the only groomed one was kind of icy (which I actually was having quite a bit of fun at). But the main issue is they should spend more money making the skiing enjoyable instead of concentrating on the other experiences.
I did not ski much of the blue or green trails, maybe they were fine, but I can't tell you.
Plus my altimeter watch was telling me the vertical drop was only 1350', where did the other 250' go? Down to the entrance at the parking lot?

i have been to windham 3 times, with each time more disappointed than the previous. The latest trip we were there was 2/23/08, a Saturday. It was the most disappointing experience. It was extremely crowded. Black trails were so skied-off that they were all ice slopes. Blue trails were so heavily skied that they were literally covered by scattered piles of snow. It looked like they have not groomed the trails for a while....

Skitown Review
Ski resort reviews can be helpful only if you know the skill level and skiing perspective of the person authoring the review. I am a middle age advanced skier with no interest in jumping off cornices or cliffs. I will often at high speeds hit a small lip in the terrain and get a little air, but thats about the extent of it. I venture in and out of moderate mogul fields in an attempt to become a better all-around skier, but I tend not to spend a majority of my ski day dealing with the bumps. My ski buddies and I decided to get in a pre-Utah tune-up, so we decided to do a little local skiing at Windham Mountain (Windham). I visited and reviewed Windham in greater detail two years ago on January 6, 2005. With that said, here is an updated review on Windham
Terrain Rated 3.0: I still rate Windhams terrain at a 3.0. Two years ago none of the advanced terrain was open. This time I was able to experience a black diamond trail. The double diamonds were still closed, but my assessment two years ago is accurate today, the advanced terrain is fun but wont strike any fear into the heart of an expert/advanced skier.
Service Rated 4.0: Windham is a whole different ballgame during mid-week. There is great service in the cafeteria, they have a concierge at the main entrance to the lodge dispensing all types of information, and those wonderful free carpeted changing rooms that are located on the ground floor and separate from the bathrooms. Every ski resort should have such changing facilities.
Crowds Rating 5.0: Nobody was there! Nobody was there!! Nobody was there!!! There were no lifelines anywhere on the entire mountain. You could spread out in the cafeteria and sit anywhere you wished.
Activities Rating 5.0: Windham has the typical ski resort activities; terrain parks, tubing, and snow shoe trails. The town of Windham appears to be quaint and charming. In addition, there is a lot to do within the Catskill mountain vicinity.
Value: - Rating 3.0: General lift tickets were in the mid 40s which I guess is about average, and the cafeteria prices appear to be comparable to other ski resorts
In summary, Windham is a great place to go during the mid-week. You will truly enjoy it. But all bets are off if you intend to visit on a holiday or weekend. During those times, the service and crowd parameters go straight down the tubes. Its just too many skiers and riders.
