We love Ski Apache. Have been going there about 7 years. The staff have always been helpful. Usually if you are nice, others are nice to you. Some years are better than others for snowfall; not the fault of Ski Apache! The upper part of the mountain is never crowded. On Weekends and holidays the base can get very crowded; lots of Texans love Ski Apache. Week days you can often take the lifts up and ski right back down without any wait in lines. Our family of six all learned to ski there from their qualified instructors. My 2 youngest quickly mastered skiing at Kiddie Corral school. The drive up the mountain has to be taken slowly; but the beautiful scenery makes up for it. The website is great; have 2 for 1 lift ticket specials; has a live webcam. I highly recommend Ski Apache.

Inn of the mountain gods: The facilities were very nice and clean. Check-in and valet were simple. The view and area are beautiful. From there, it went downhill. With the exception of the bar tenders, all the staff bordered on rude and were definately unhelpful. This joke of a hotel had 1 20 person shuttle to the Ski Apache slopes. When I asked the manager what happens when more than 20 people want to ride it, he agreed those people who didnt fit would have to find alternate transportation to the ski slopes. While the rooms and accomdations are nice, the casino is very small. Tables were ridiculously overcrowded, while there were ample slot machines open. If you care at all about good service DO NOT stay at this hotel.

Ski Apache Ski Resort:
This was a nice looking, but small, resort. Even with tons of snow in the previous days many runs and lifts were not open. There were 1:30 to 2 hour waits to ride the gondola up to the top. There was also over an hour wait to turn in skis/boots at the end of the day thank to the 1 or 2 people who were manually searching alphabetically for each persons ticket. Most people we talked to were able to make 2 to 3 runs max, all day long. The one up-side to the resort was that the employees at the resort were very friendly.

In summary, if you are traveling any sort of distance I highly recommend that you do not go to this resort, especially if you have alternatives. The people running the hotel have no idea what customer service is and the people running the resort don't really know how to run a resort.

Located in a beautiful area but beware. Due to lack of snow, we spent 3 days there @ $54/day, skiing the same crappy runs because less than 50% of the place was even open.
