I skied Wildcat over a two day period in February 2007 and had a blast. You really feel like your in the mountains because skiing down almost every run you get the towering Mount Washington in front of you. The first day was snowing and conditions were perfect. When it's raining elsewhere, its usually snowing at Wildcat. Which brings me to this point; Wildcat is cold. Dress warm and be prepared for some wind. But I underdressed the first day and still had a good time. Since it was snowing, you could not see Mount Washington in front of you, but in the afternoon, you could catch glimpses of it, which was all I needed to tell that the scenery is amazing, no wonder it ranked number 1 in scenery in North America (ski magazine). Wildcat has alot of vertical, 2112 (more than any other mountain in NH besides cannon), with the longerst trail in NH. All the trails are long, a number of them very skinny (classic NE skiing). It has a very speedy express quad that takes you to the top. This means more time on the slopes. Another thing to note is the crowds are not very big, probably because this mountain is often thought of as a hard mountain. But it is really not that hard, with plenty of trails for beginner intermediates. The lodge and food are average, same as most ski resorts. So I'd reccomend Wildcat for a ski experience on a big mountain with awesome views. Take a break from the ridiculous crowds at Loon.
