When I was younger, I frequently skied Cranmore, mostly because of the great deals that you get. Cranmore has alot of easy terrain for beginner's but still has a number of really steep runs (try Ledges). The staff is friendly and they have great learn-to-ski programs. Despite the lack of vertical, it has a good variety of terrain. Just be prepared on weekends and especially holidays when the crowds are high. Even the high speed quad's line is overwhelming. But overall a very good mountain.
