Terrain: It's foucoused mainly on the glades, which are excellent. It has great cruisers and a wide diversity of trails.
Service: The food is excellent but way overpriced. I got 4 shrimps for $16!
Crowds: Big problem, usually on vacations
Activities: SKIING ONLY!
Value: Good except for the four shrimps I hate for $16

Excellent veiws of Mount Washington. 8 years or so, it wasn't much of a "great" mountain like it is now, but they have made it MUCH better. Adding a new mountain, adding 3 high speeds (4 now), adding a bunch of glades on Rosebrook, and working on a new mountain is a lot in 8 years. The only downside to this resort is th length of trails. The longest is a 2 mile dlopeand it's stressed out to the side. i would compare the scenery to Sunday River in Maine, but Sunday River's trails are better.

First, Bretton Woods is not a forest. It's three good sized peaks with excellent and l-o-n-g trails.
Forget the 'Bode' connection, Who cares or should.
Bretton Woods is a destination. Depending on how well you dodge the NH State Police (this is 'Live Free or Die' country--and those are your two options) it's a 2 hour 15 minute ride from Boston.
First, the good side--no wind. Ever. Well, almost never. Compare that to Wildcat or Cannon or Loon or Waterville. A very BIG plus. And the grooming is spectacular and rich, with maintenance until about 25 March. I've skied there maybe 100 times and only been disappointed by weather twice.
The terrain is very 'intermediate', also with unusually long (for New England) 'greens' that make for enjoyable and delicious runs of 20 minutes or more. This is definitely not a mountain where it takes longer to go up than ski down.
There is some advanced terrain and glades, but you bump jockies are likely to prefer the more suicidal Cannon.
Lodge is spacious and very family friendly, without being overly expensive or 60's trashy (like Wildcat).
And did I mention the views? Amazing vistas of Mt Washington.
I have never stayed at the MWH. No reason to. BW is separate, but of course it is part of a package if you want it to be with MWH.
I would avoid the Mt Washington skiing (not Tuckerman's) that uses the Cog. It's overpriced and boring, only providing bragging rights for 'I skied Mt Washington' . But it seems to be tied in with the MWH and BW for some reason.

My family went to New Hampshire on vacation and took advantage of the 2 for 1 Wednesdays at Bretton Woods. We had a wonderful time. The kids both loved the ski school, and my husband and I enjoyed the terrain. The views at the top were absolutely majestic.
