What can I say about Moonlight Basin except if you have not gone you simply must. The affordability and the beauty as well as the most polite people you will encounter work at Moonlight Basin. If you like Big Sky you will love Moonlight Basin and now you can ski both with a combined lift ticket. The student to instructor ratio is also unbelievable. We went end of January and everyone in our group had private instruction due to no other customers for ski school, We have been back twice and once to Big Sky nothing compares to Moonlight Basin it beats any resort in Colorado hands down.

I just love Moonlight Basin, In fact I think I like the skiing better than Big Sky! The runs feel as if they were landscaped by Arnold Palmer - As you cruise down a run you'll have islands of trees in the middle or to you right or left, the runs such as Lookout take you up almost as if on a fairway for a glorious view of the Mountains and frosted trees.
Great snow this year 2006, last year wasn't as good but I still enjoyed the hell out of the place- no closed runs.
I love the runs, long, long runs that keep throwing suprises at you - I love Meriwether, Horeshow and especially Lookout Ridge - these are long blues that have lots of elevation drops at various turns - making those thighs burn.
This year in addition to Lone Tree lift the Headwaters lift is now in service and both provide access to the Headwaters area and bowl.
What I'm finding especially mesmorizing is the homes and the beauty of the area - we just got back from spending 5 days at a house on the mountain and I'm in love, actually started to look at mortgages for $1.8 million dollar homes that we stayed at.
Ski in and Ski out was great - out the back door and onto Natawista to the Lodge, the lodge is fantastic - almost reminiscent of Old Faithful Lodge.
Simply put - great area, beautiful, great skiing - almost my own Yellowstone Club - it's that uncrowded, lift tickets are also a great deal at $35.00 for the Headwaters Club. Amazing.
Only negative comment is that after leaving you may experience depression or a void that can only be filled by Moonlight Basin.

If you are looking for a ski resort you can still afford to take your whole family to, Moonlight Basin is it. We were greeted in the parking lot by helpful employees who not only made sure you had a map they also took the time to answer any questions and delivered 2 sets of our skis to the lift base. They made us feel welcome. At the top of various lifts we found hosts or hostess willing to help you with anything from finding terrain for your level of skimg to where the nearest bathroom would be located. We found a nice range of different ski levels. There was no waiting in lift lines and the people there were great. We will be back this coming season and be enjoying not only great reasonably priced skiing, but employees who are actually glad you came to their resort. Way to go Moonlight Basin.
