I had heard someone describe Lutsen as the Vail of the Midwest. Whoever they were, they were right. Lutsen is the biggest ski area in the Midwest, with more variety and much more fun. What's even better is that Lutsen is expanding. They're adding a high speed lift in the next year or so, and they've added 6 new amazingly steep runs on Moose Mountain's backside. And what area in this region can beat Lutsen's atmosphere? Papa Charlie's, Lockport Gas Station, Lake Superior...what more could a midwestern skier ask for? Lutsen has it all, and then some. Oh yeah...NO CROWDS!!!
