Went for the first time between xmas and new years 07' will be retuning 1-18-08. I almost only board out west, but this is worth the 9 hour drive and the savings. Bought a 99$ season pass, and I am already ahead. If you want to ride the trees or jump off some rocks and cliffs this is the place to be. if you want starbucks and valet service go to Vail.
Highly recommend Mt. BOHEMIA
what about Mt. Houghton? is what I want to know.

The best mountain in the Midwest, period! Skiing like it used to be. Rustic, challenging, extreme, real. I know they need more money, but please don't change, Bohemia. We need you. I've skiid in Vermont, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Minnesota and even Iowa and this is my favorite place.
My only beef is that their staff sometimes have a "I'd rather be skiing rather than working for you" attitude. That's kind of a turn-off for me. Customer service needs a little improvement! They also could invest in a bigger shuttle bus for the backcountry.
Still, even with these complaints, I'd rather ski at Bohemia than anywhere in the Midwest. Hell, make that anywhere period. Just love the place.

Absolutely worth the drive from the Chicagoland area. The friendly staff and lack of beginners and kids crowing the slopes makes this place one of a kind. As first timers to the mountain last year, we have already booked two weeks for this upcoming season. While the total size of the mountain can't compare to out west, the steep terrain and famous backcountry will keep you fully entertained for days at a time. If you haven't gotten one yet, I recommend a season pass. Get it early and it's only $99. You'll be glad you did.

I always thought that Jackson Hole was located in Wyoming? This incredible ski resort is located in God's country. You would never see this immense Midwest mountain coming. I could not believe the terrain, moguls, 50 foot cliff, ungroomed and flat out awesome place to ski. If you have a desire to suck up expensive drinks and be fashionable like aN Aspen regular stay away. This place is freakishly steep, primative and a true bang for the buck. If you are confident and get compliments about your skiing, feel free to challenge it, all others STAY AWAY!

You can get as much skiing in here on 5 runs as 12 hours on any other Midwest ski hill. Best decision I ever made was to find their rental shop and get a lesson from ski patrol there- they had me actually doing things I could only dream of before! Only problem here is if you want an easy way down, SIT. Also call ahead for conditions; if the locals say "it's a little choppy" that could mean death cookies top to bottom.
