Pine has a nice lodge but it shows its age. The rooms were small and a bit musty. During our stay the septic system was backed up and you could smell it on the main level. The food at the bar/restaurant is very good but the food in the cafeteria is not edible, even by resort standards. Your choices are to pack a lunch or eat with the folks who drink theirs, which is OK if you dont have children with you.

The staff does a good job of overcoming the negativities of the resort but the locals are not as accomodating. I like to ski and not listen to the locals sit on the deck and dis the resort. They call it "their" resort but all they can do is to bad-mouth the place.

The skiing is not as good at other UP resorts due to the fact that the hill itself is only 460 vertical, even if the resort stats say 500 a topo map says different.

The only saving grace for Pine is that it's a drop-off hill, so expect a horde of unattended children and teens. Lots of snowboarders.
