Alpine Valley just plain sucks! There lifts and equipment are always breaking down with long lines and employee's aren't very helpful. Food, over-priced and not very good. Bring your own food if you plan to stay the day skiing. One good note, they have lots of parking

If you are going to ski south east michigan, then yes, this is the place to be. But if you are looking to get more bang for your buck, head north. I cant believe that they are charging $33+ for a lift ticket to this place. I have boarded here for almost 5 years now and every season the price goes up, and the amount of lifts, runs, activities, stays the same. I also have never been overly impressed with the service that i have gotten while at AV, a lot of times that i have been there, the slopes have been overly crowded and yet they don't have all the lifts running, it is this service, or lack there of, that really gets to me. On a positive note, they do have a nice bar/lodge, but that hardly makes up for the huge increase in lift ticket prices over the years. All in all this is a sub-par hill, charging mid to upper level pricing for sking/boarding in Michigan.

Alpine is one of the best hills in Michgan. Only Third to Boyne and Shanty Creek. The terrain park is tight, and the hills are made for the average, to advanced snowboarders. Its definatly not that high, but its pretty much AMAZING... You can see me there every Saturday during the Winter in my white jacket. See you there!!!! ALPINES THE BEST

its definitely the best place to ski in southeast michigan, although theres nothing really that challenging...but they do have a pretty nice terrain park

I thought there were some runs that were more fun than Brighton, but overall they have a problem rating the trails. I didn't really find any of the black diamonds to meet expectations. If you enjoy a lot of Blues though, its a good place. Pretty much all of their trails are REALLY blues.
There wasn't a crowd when I went, but the prices could be cheaper for the size of the place.

What do you expect for Detroit area.
