I have not been to this resort in about ten years. The two times I did visit it rained and they do not get much natural snow. The lift lines are crowded and they have a lot of cross trails. I like Sugarloaf much better it is worth the extra hour drive. To have such a big mountain with steeps and non existing crowds. Sugarloaf also has one base area with almost as many trails and twice the amount of natural snow.

My ski friends (all 42 of us)from Kitchener, Ontario visited Sunday River for our annual ski trip in early February 2007. We stayed at the Snow Cap Inn which is a short shuttle bus ride to the base lodges. The accommodation was excellent and the staff were first class and very service oriented. Although not a full service hotel (no bar or restaurant) they offer a complimentary continental breakfast in the morning that was very good. The rooms were a nice size and very clean. The mountains at Sunday River offered my group every level of skiing on well groomed trails or un-groomed glade skiing and everything in between. The lifts are quite modern and get you to the top in a timely fashion. The nice part is most of the lifts are protected from the elements by tall trees so you don't freeze your "tush" off getting up the mountain. Lifties, Bar Staff, Retail staff etc. were all friendly and helpful and made Apres ski more pleasurable. All in all an excellent well organized ski experience (of course the 26" of fresh snow helped a lot!"). My friends all agreed that this was a well kept secret and certainly worth a return visit. I worked with group sales at the mountain and they certainly helped make organizing the trip a painless experience at an excellent value.

Great place, my favorite so far in the east. The snow is alway nice and it has trails for every level. Ther service is also excellent. If begginer you'll find instructores or people on the sloples that will help and correct your riding for free. That is really nice!! And really great snow on the black dimonds. Great service, nice facilities, awesome trails. Never really crowd becouse of the big terrein and the so many lifts.

We love Sunday River. Great skiing and boarding even when there is no snow anywhere around. They do a great job on the terrain. There's a great variety of runs kept in great shape and as others have said, the crowd has a good unstressed vibe. The Grand Summit is getting a little tired inside but you are paying for the location on the MT. Apres is lacking so it might not be the place if you are looking for nightlife.
