Jiminy peak is great for the average intermediate skiier. but dont come here if you arent use to ice everywhere you go. EXTREME ice conditions are common. This mountain is probably the worst mountain i ever skiied on as far as ice. the ice conditions get so redicioulous that you can see the patches of ice from the base of the mountain if you look at some of the trails. 90% of the terrain gets extremley slushey too in the late season which is annoying to ski on. And dont be fooled by Jiminy Peaks Signature double black diamond "Jericho". Just like every other trail on this mountain, jericho is groomed every single day which makes it easier, and is a fall line trail that runs from the top of the mountain, to the base. Out of the entire trail, the last 2/3rds of it is really the only extremley steep part of it. One other thing that bothers me about this mountain is that it gets Very boring, Very fast. i would only recommend this mountain for a beginner or an intermediate skiier.

I am personally a high-end intermediate skiier, and i this this mountain is worth coming back to. I still have fun on this mountain alot, and i think the service is great, and the crowds are great! There is absolutely NO lines at ANY lifts which is great if you dont like waiting.

Had an excellent time. The skiing was great for the lower part of New England, although the lift tix were twice the price of Bershire East, where the skiing was just about as good. Some of the slopes were fairly steep (this is a good thing) but beer was $6.34 a bottle at the slope side bars, even during "Happy Hour", which made it the steepest thing on the mountain.

There is not much to do other than ski in the immediate area but Pittsfield is a decent sized town about 10 miles down the road with plenty of restaurants, bars, full sized grocery stores, etc. Jiminy Peak does have a "mountain coaster", which looks pretty fun but it is only open on weekends. People are very friendly in this part of the country.

Stayed across the street at "Vacation Villiage at the Berkshires". Nice place with a fantastice view of the Jiminy Peak slopes. The slopes are lit at night for skiing which gives a great view at all times.

Do not waste your money. The Inn is in bad need of repair, it has an odd mold smell and was dirty. The food is very expensive and very bad as well. I wasted my money and will not be back.

Friendly atmosphere, nice area, lousy skiing. They need more snowmaking and better grooming.

SkiTown Review

Ski resort reviews can be helpful only if you know the skill level and skiing perspective of the person authoring the review. I am a middle age advanced skier with no interest in jumping off cornices or cliffs. I will often at high speeds hit a small lip in the terrain and get a little air, but that’s about the extent of it. I venture in and out of moderate mogul fields in an attempt to become a better all-around skier, but I tend not to spend a majority of my ski day dealing with the bumps. I had promised my granddaughter a ski day, but since the ski conditions in the northeast have been so poor, I had to consult SkiTown’s website to find out which local area had the best coverage. Jiminy Peak (Jiminy) reported the greatest percentage of skiable terrain. We therefore packed our gear and headed for Jiminy. With that said, here are my impressions of Jiminy.

Terrain – Rated 3.0:
Jiminy displays typical statistics for a Pocono/Berkshire mountains ski hill, about 1,100-foot vertical drop and close to 200 acres of terrain. Obviously this is relatively small in comparison to northern New England and western standards. “Jericho” is Jiminy’s signature “double diamond” fall-line trail emanating from the summit and dropping nearly two-thirds of the entire vertical. It does get a somewhat hairy when it bumps up. Two other double diamond trails begin at the summit and are also fall-line trails, but they are shorter than Jericho. Again, the difficulty increases only if moguls are allowed to develop. The remaining single black diamond trails are noticeably steeper than the intermediate trails but generally with no surprises. Jiminy’s trail map indicates a trail called “Lower Glade.” I must have missed something along the way because I didn’t notice any glades whatsoever. Otherwise, and from an advanced skiers point of view, I label the remainder of Jiminy’s terrain as “feel-good” trails. I am not being derogatory when I say this. There is definitely a place in the world of skiing for “feel-good” mountains. Even experts need to look pretty once in a while as they descend these trails. Jiminy is truly a family mountain and my granddaughter had an absolute ball (which always puts a smile on my face). She could be considered a “low intermediate” skier who resorts to a wedge (snowplow or pizza) in emergency situations. She devoured every beginner and intermediate trail on the map. This builds confidence and enhances her love for skiing. The intermediate trails gave me a chance to perform some drills and work on my technique in a non-threatening environment (and since it was only my second time out, lord knows I needed the workout).

Service – Rated 3.0:
Jiminy has a base to Summit lift called the “Berkshire Express.” When you are skiing down to the base you will see what looks like a formidable lift-line. The “Berkshire Express” is a high speed detachable 6-pack that eats up a lift-line in no time. On a crowded Sunday I spent no more than about 3 minutes on the base to summit lift-line. The other general services at Jiminy are not out of the ordinary in comparison to other ski resorts. At lunchtime I ordered my standard bowl of chili. The cafeteria served me as much onions and cheese as I requested. In addition they added a small roll. The chili was the best I had ever had at a ski resort. It was tasty and had a little bit of a spicy kick. Plus, I could actually find not just bits, but chunks of meat. Scrumptious!

Crowds – Rating 3.0:
Since it was a beautiful sunshiny Sunday morning, Jiminy was crowded. We were directed into Jiminy’s alternate parking lot and were shuttled over to the main lodge area. Finding space in the lodge was horrendous, and the lodge crowds didn’t disperse until about 3:00 p.m. Jiminy needs a bigger day lodge. On the hill we were a great deal more fortunate. Jiminy’s “Berkshire Express” did a wonderful job of moving the people up the mountain and dispersing the crowd.

Activities – Rating 2.0:
Jiminy appears to be in the boonies of western Massachusetts. Pittsfield, a pretty significant town, is at least 10 miles south of Jiminy. There are two terrain parks at Jiminy, and there is tubing at the site of the now defunct “Brodie Mountain,” which is few miles east of Jiminy. Outside of that, there didn’t appear to be much else to do.

Value: - Rating 2.0:
Lift tickets at Jiminy were relatively high for the size of the mountain. But they did have a unique system where you could purchase a 4-hour block of ski time, rather than waiting to about 12:30 or 1:00 p.m. for those half-day lift tickets that sold for just a few dollars less than the all-day tickets. I always felt financially raped when I had to buy those silly half-day tickets. Jiminy’s 4-hour lift ticket was non-the-less expensive and still just $4.00 less than the all-day ticket. The advantage of it was that as soon as I bought it I could begin skiing. I didn’t have to wait around for a specific time.

In summary: Jiminy is a great place for the advanced/expert skier to ski as an early season tune-up or to take a family of varied skiing skills for a day trip. Jiminy is definitely not a destination mountain and is unable to hold the interest of an accomplished skier for more than a day. But to Jiminy’s credit, it is one of the few places to go when the region is suffering from a lack of natural snowfall.

Excellent mountain for the beginner to intermediate skier. Needs to get the smaller lifts moving in a way that there are 3 at a time going up instaed of however they line up. Less wait on the Novice chair lift is essentiol to the enjoyment for the family.

I give Jiminy Peak the highstes rating possible!! They're service is great and I've been there on every holiday with tons of crowds and there could be 50 people in line and you could be guarenteed to get on the chairlift within 2 mintues. The 6 quad is super comfy, and very fast. I love it because it takes shorter to get up to the hightest part of the peak and a longer enjoyable time to ski. Usually for me it's about $35 dollars for a ticket and it is deffinatley worth it. Then I usually bring around $25-35 dollars for food to eat about 3 times from morning to 10:30 at night. The food is a little over priced but you can understand why, and there is great service so I'd rather pay more money for a great time. It's like paying a little extra amount of money for a better time. One word to descirbe Jiminy would be "FABULOUS"!!!!

I LOVE JIMINY..

This mountain has made EXTREME changes/additions to it's base area (just this past year!)and consistent upgrades to it's snowmaking and grooming systems. The trails are always groomed beautifully and the lines never long when we've gone-weekends and holidays. The comfy high speed six chair makes for a fast ride to the top. The new base lodges (especially JJ's Lodge) have really provided tons of additional space and lunch options. Of course this is not an expert mountain but the trails are enough for ANY intermediate skier with some short runs for advanced ones.
