Bousquet is one of the most loved mountains in the north east. yes, it may not be the biggest mountain in toen, but it also doesnt have the tourists. one day i say larry cratka from the today show there and out of all the ski mountains he picked bousquet. he had a smile painted on his face. i admit, the lodges need an update, but the people, the terrain and the staff (instructors and racers) is the best you will ever meet. The trails are always groomed and the lifts are always running. the terrain park is also a big hit with a lot of the kids. Bousquet also has lots of fun events for kids including: instructional lessons, inter club and tristate racing, tubing, winter carnival day including a ski/board race, the harris cup which is a ski/board race, the rail jam and many more. also the summer is a great me too with their water slides, devil carting, go carts, bungee jumping, and rock wall climbing. if i had to rate bousquet from 1 - 10 id give it a 10.

name should be intergrated with town The Pitts, If ou like skiing next or into a junk yard, this is your place.Ski school run by non-business types ,just give us the money we will give you an instructor,or so to speak, usually a kid with no people skills and limited teaching. The lodge is a dungeon,as is the bar area,if your an adult in bar,you better enjoy kids running around.Hard to believe it is still in business.

Best deep powder skiing east of the Rockies. Awesome grooming and some natural trails off the backside of the mountain. The women are very friendly and many wear spandex ski pants. I have skied all over the world and nothing compares to Bousquet.

I have skied and lived in western mass for 50 + years now, I knew Bousquet when it used to be a charming, clean little country ski area 20 something years ago with all the comforts and politeness that should go along with being small. This place has gone from being a little jewel in the Berkshires to a run down dump of a hill with the nastiest Lady I have ever meet running the place. If your looking to have a hill to yourself go here, if you dare to ride the lifts, because itÂ’s empty.

Flatter than a sledding hill--which is to be expected for podunk mountains-
But it is always crowded with adolescent gapers and non-skiers in jeans and football jackets. The place is lamer than tiny tim! I usually love smaller under-the radar old mountains--but this place has the feel of the city it is in (Pittsfield) a decaying old place that has tried to paint a newer face on an unseemly old portrait. When the biggest thing at your hill is Tubing and the alpine slide you know you're in stinkville.
I wouldn't ski here on a dare--might be fun on a sled-but it's deathly dull on a pair of skis.

I'm sure I'm going to get flamed for this by locals, but I've got to save you all from wasting your money. The worst ski area I've ever seen has got to be Bousquet, in Pittsfield, Mass.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. This was a birthplace of New England skiing that attracted posh New Yorkers on ski trains. It produced a lot of Olympians. (There was a great article about the history of the area and the Bousquet family, who were geniuses, in an early issue of Berkshire Living, an otherwise forgetable magazine.) And now it looks like a junk yard, except that at least a junk yard might have some cool stuff in it.
I have skied maybe 50 areas in the US, Canada, even Slovakia. I've written for major ski publications. My favorite mountains are not the fancy resorts; I like the funky old-time places, like Mad River Glen. So Bousquet, with my kids in tow, ought to have been a winner. But Mad River Glen has maintained the goodness of the olden days. This place just says "decay."
It starts with their ticket policy. The place has a vertical drop of something like 700 feet, so it's not exactly Whistler to begin with, making the $32 tickets for adults seem fair. But get this: they charge $16 for my 5 year old, and the same for my...THREE YEAR OLD! Every other ski area in the country understands that you've got to let the little ones in free, partly because they might take one run and decide they're done, and partly because if you don't get little kids skiing, the sport and the industry are going to die. So it cost me, my wife, and our two midgets almost as much to ski at Bousquet ($96) as it would have cost us to ski at a big resort that lets kids under six ski for free. The ticket seller's attitude when I asked about this? "Hey, I don't make the rules. Get over it."
When we got on the lift I could see why they had big signs at the ticket office saying "Think before you buy! No refunds!" This place was nasty. Both chair-lifts creak and groan like they're ready to bust. I'd hate to be Bousquet's insurance agent. (One chair returns downhill so low a tall person could easily get clocked, and I saw several people do unintended back flips on the slippery, snow-covered wooden deck at the lodge.) There aren't many trails, and the ones they do have are wide and dull, designed for groomers, not skiers. My 5-year-old was bored after two runs.
What really struck me, though, was all the crap lying around. Next to the beginner slope was a hundred feet of rusty old motors and snow guns that any other owner would have hauled to the dump, or at least hidden somewhere. The groomers were parked in front of the garage, which was right next to the lodge. The lodge was so dark it seemed like a good place to grow mushrooms, and seemed like it hadn't been painted---or cleaned---in thirty years. When my little guy took off into the woods on one trail, we discovered more rusty metal and old parts. I can't imagine why anyone would ski here, except that maybe they don't realize they can go somewhere---anywhere!---else. The owner apparently sold a bunch of condos on the property. Wouldn't it be nice if he actually used some of that money to repair this place?

I've been skiing for basically my whole life. I get a pass every year and I ski there everyday. This year was great, I ski twin tip so I'm mostly in the terrain park. This year's terrain park was unbeliveable.. not only did they have 1 but they also had 2 ( a mini terrain located on Harris). You can tell that Bousquet tried their hardest with their service and activities. The greatest attraction this year had to of been the 75 foot jump!! It was HUGE and everyone enjoyed it. Also they had two 25 foot jumps, a 45 ft. jump, 2 hips, kink rails, boxes, and tons of other jumps. The chairlift wasn't as great as Jiminy but either way it helped. Also, I broke my arm their after hitting a jump and within five mintues I had help and was turned into ski partol's office. They have ski patrol out all do so your very safe there. There is one concern and that's being able to trust your skis being left outside. My friend had left his board out on the deck and it had been stolen. Several days later it was found near the chairlift with tons of vandilisum written all over it, stickers, etc. But if your board is stolen or damaged, Bousquet will loan you a rental as long as you need it. Next year is going to be a blast and I am looking forward to it dearly.. the latest rumor is the half-pipe that it supposed to be implanted in the month of late October/ early November. If anyone was wondering Bousquet is planning to open November 7th, 06. 11/7/06.
Thank You Bousquet!!-- Joelle, Bousquet member.

Bousquet is such an ill mountain. It is one of the only ski resorts out there that hasnt become overrun with tourists, and uneeded accesories. Unlike most up tight mountains, you are allowed to go fast without getting yelled at. They also respect their racers, who are fun to watch. The French Fries dont get any better, and it has a great bar. Represent one mountain that is still real ill...Bousquet
