Although, I've never visited Silver Mountain before, the "Bonus" season this year was amazing, five visits during the month of May, with the last day of operation being June 1st. The variety of terrain is decent, but the lift network requires some thought to get to where you WANT to ski.
Ironically, the marketing efforts tout the easy gondola access to the mountain. However, as was experienced recently, when the gondola fails, nobody can GET to the mountain.
Plan-B anyone???

Food service in the lodge is/was terrible.

grooming practices were less than stellar, regardless of snow/weather conditions.

on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate Silver a 6...

Great skiing most of last year. Chair four broke down the last part of the year, but that will happen with a fourty year old peice of equipment. Low amount of weekday visitors makes for great ski days and great midweek powder days. This resort is an up and comming place to be.

Silver Mountain’s (aka "Brokelift Mountain”) maintenance practices and lifting system are so bad one should worry about your personal safety here. Beware, there are no state lift inspections in Idaho. Silver's antiquated lifts would not pass inspection in other states. Even worse, they run lifts with known major defects. For example, the resort ran Chair 4 to complete failure even though they have known for years that it had a major bullwheel shaft defect. This easily could have caused a fatality. Also a Chair 5 lift tower collapsed this year from neglected inspection and Chair 2 broke the second President's Day weekend in two years requiring mass rope evacuation!

For your health and safety, STAY AWAY FROM THIS JOKE OF AN OPERATION!!!

Broken chairlifts, one tower fell over and reports of problems with gondola grips with official spin as to why.... closes for wind.... pretty gondola ride and some nice intermediate terrain on open parts of mountain... easy interstate access and close to good rooms in Cour d Alene......

Great Mountain, a little bit of everything you might expect after such a long gondola ride. Lifties and all mountain staff were friendly and extemely helpful. The mountain skis at various aspects to the sun and the lift system numbering has a simple plan odds return you to the lodge and evens bring you to the various summits.
Conditions were great for early spring although I'd tend to believe that they're due for some freshies before the season winds down.
Great views for the non-skiers too and the lift prices are moderate. I wish I had a season pass to fifty places like this and winter lasted well into july when I could quit working and really bum around and enjoy living the life.

A good hill for the money. Lots of varied terrain that will test your skills. Not too crowded and plenty of lifts.
