Living in Connecticut, the Hawk is my local mountain. Although it's small, it's nice place when you can't head up north to a better resort.

The terrain is okay. There are a few steep trails but these would be blues in Vermont. The trails off the summit chair (Pinnacle and Ledges) are fun trails, but they ain't north. Some of the other trails like the trail Mohawk are good as well, but some like Pine are boring. The night skiing coverage is decent.

The chairlifts rarely require a wait longer than a minute. The trails can get crowded, but it's not to bad. It's a nice atmosphere as well.

While they're are summer activities, winter activities besides winter sports are nonexistant.

The season pass is to expensive, so you shouldn't get one unless you plan to ski frequently like I do there.

In summary, Mohawk is a good stop for those who can't head up north.

Nice area. It is a great place for families with young children. The snow quality was outstanding but the terrain is not very challenging.

I was staying at Jiminy Peak and took the drive down to Mohawk for the day. The drive is part of one of the ones covered in "The Most Scenic Drives in America: 120 Spectacular Road Trips". Beautiful road trip. It took about 1.5 hours.

mohawk mtn is by far the best mountain in ct. theres not that many trails for experts, but first timers, or if you just want to get a great day of skiing in this is the place. the service is friendly, and alwas helps first time skiers. i have been going to the hawk for about three years, and have never had a problem with cowds, you can always get on the chairlift right away. there are plenty of activities for kids. last the value is incredible. for about the price of two at the movies, you can ski the best terrain in ct.
