Completely agree with everything said here. I wrote a complaint about this ski slope before and would like to warn parents with kids. DO NOT GO TO WOODBURY SKI AREA. IT IS VERY UNSAFE AND DIRTY!!!!

I whole-heartedly agree with the other reviews of the Woodbury Ski Area. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR RISK YOUR LIFE. Poorly run. An ambulance call shut down half of the park (unfortunately the side OUR car was on). We couldn't leave! Main ticket area smelled like an outhouse - apparently the septic issues aren't new. Wish I had heeded the warnings of all these other dissatisfied patrons. $180 down the tubes! We're just lucky we only ended up with a bloody lip.

THIS PLACE IS A DEATH TRAP -- DO NOT GO!!! This place was over crowded, under staffed and unsafe. One of the children with us ended up leaving in an ambulance because his tube went through a fence that was not properly protected and he ended up going off of a 15foot drop into rocks. The staff/managment was more concerned with fixing the broken fence then taking care of the injured child. DO NOT EVER BRING CHILDREN TO THIS PLACE!

3 words. NEVER GO THERE!!! It's a deathtrap. My son had to go to the hospital because he hit his head on the ground after falling off his tube. He was doing it right, on his stomach and all, but it was SO bumpy he fell off! At the hospital he had a skull fracture. HE CRACKED HIS SKULL!!!! And the staff didn't care! The bathrooms are dirty, the owner doesn't seem to care if someone died there (which someone will, I'm sure of), and the staff have these odd accents which I can't understand! DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO DIE.
It's a living hell.

I just wanted to learn how to x-country ski. I called to set up a lesson. They wouldn't give me the ski package - had to have a private lesson for $55.00/hour. That wasn't the worst part (the instructor was actually ok. They had the nerve to charge me a $15.00 lift ticket for no trails to x-country on. Their website said they had snow, the did not. When I questioned the charge for a closed trail, I got a story about how expensive it was to make snow. This place is a HUGE RIP OFF. NEVER, NEVER GO HERE OR EVEN CONSIDER TRYING IT.

This place goes on the "I'm not stupid to go back there again" list.

This is a VERY DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE PLACE!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS THERE. THEY MOST LIKELY WILL GET HURT!!!!

It was horrible. The parking lot was a mud pit and once you park on the upper level of the hill it is really tough to walk down. People with small children who need strollers are out of luck.

It is way overpriced for what they offer. Tubing was $30.00 for 3 hours. But they don't tell you it's 40 minutes on the line. So what does that come out to, maybe 5 times down the run??

The front lobby where you buy the tickets smelled like a urinal. The bathroom was even worse. Toilets didn't flush, no T.P. and no paper towels to dry your hands. I guess the guy thinks once you put them back in your gloves they will dry. Wanted to buy a bag of chips for the kids. Bag said .99 cents. The owner said 2$ a one dollar handling fee he claims. Man, and I thought thieves used guns.

We wanted to rent helmets. ( Boy, I’m glad we did) 20 minutes on line to rent a helmet. So that was 20 minutes less that the kids got to go on the run. Also, while getting the helmets, a pair of skies fell on my son and hit him on the back. Big skies, little kid, figure it out.

There were not enough tubes and people were fighting over the tubes.

They did not have enough staff for the people and the staff did very little to make the runs safe. There was one person at the bottom of the lift to help you on and one person on the top to help you off. There was nobody working at the bottom of the run to direct the people off the slope and there was nobody at the top of the run to spread out the tubers. They were all coming down at random and very unorganized. My son went up the big run and was not instructed on how to slide down with the tube. He sat in it instead of laid down. First hill he flies out of the tube face first into the ice. That’s when the guy at the top tells me he should lie down instead. After the fact. But his Mid Eastern accent was so heavy I doubt my son would have understood him anyway.

Many people got hurt when I was there due to the negligence of the owner. One skier came down the slopes and missed a quad that was parked right at the end of the run by inches. People were getting wiped out just waiting on line. It reminded me of a slaughter house. Just waiting on line to be axed.

This guy should be ashamed of himself and be closed down as soon as possible.

Again, I can only stress that it is very unsafe. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. ( I wish I had been).

If I could give this place less then a 1 it would be in negative numbers!!

There are no crowds, probabally because no one wants to come here. I went there for my third time in a year yesterday and it was horrible. They only had 2 runs and 2 lifts after telling me on the phone 45 minutes earlier they had 12 open runs and 4 running lifts. I had driven there anyway so I bought a 6hr ticket. After an hour they closed one lift essentially leaving me with only the bunny hill for the next 5hrs. So I left after 2hrs of a 6hr lift. I didn't even bother arguing because the owner was intoxicated when I went in to get a soda. DO NOT GO.

I've never been tubing before, and will probably never again!

The set up at the Woodbury Ski Resort for tubing was bizzare. There was no supervision either at the top or bottom of the runs. On the family side, all runs merged at the end into what could only be likened to a bowling lane on which those who were not fast enough were knocked over.

The more advance run on the other side was the most terrifying experience of my life. I came out of the tube when turning a corner and was thrown into the air landing on my head and shoulder. As a result i've hurt my shoulder, knee and ankle. In addition to my experience, the person who I was there with shot off the run into the woods, and a small girl the same day overshot the run denting a 4x4 vehicle parked at the bottom.

The place was overcrowded, seemed to be poorly run/supervised, and seemed rather dangerous going on my experiences. I wouldn't go again, let alone allow a child on there.

When I heard about this ski resort I heard there is lots of garbage, several bathrooms were out of order, there was no running water, employees were rude, and many people have been severely injured. When a friend of mine was there, a child went off the track, and into the woods. They ran to get help, but when they reached the bottom of the slopes a man was seriously hurt at the bottom and employees were unable to assist the child and his mother. The man and child both had to be taken away by an ambulance. Moments later a girl who was skiing could not stop her self at the bottom of the icey slopes and slid through the safety net into a parked car. my friend was very disapointed with her visit and was refused a refund when she asked for one. the owner was rude and uncaring. DO NOT EVER GO THERE. ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN! SPREAD THE NEWS!!

I went to Woodbury Ski Area for the first time yesterday, February 21, 2007, and my boyfreind and I were attended by my sister, brother and my two nephews and niece, ALL OF WHOM ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 12. WHEN I ARIVED THERE I WAS SUPRISED AT HOW MUCH FUN TUBING LOOKED, BUT I WAS QUICKLY DISSAPOINTED. MY FIRST RIDE DOWN THE TRAIL I SLID OUT OF THE TRACK AND LOST CONTROLL. I WALKED UP TO WARN THE CHILDREN BUT THREE OF THEM HAD ALREADY FOLLOWED ME DOWN THE SLOPE. WITHIN THE FIRST HALF HOUR I WITNESSED A MAN SLIDE OFF THE TRAIL JUST AS I HAD, EXCEPT HE COULD NOT GET OFF HIS TUBE IN TIME AND CRASHED INTO A SAFETY NET WHICH HE WENT EASILY THROUGH AND HEADED STRAIGHT INTO A BUILDING . HE COLLIDED WITH THE DOOR OF THE BUILDING AND ACTUALLY KNOCKED OFF ITS HINGES. HE LAID THERE OVER AN HOUR TILL THE AMBULENCE ARRIVED AND WAS REMOVED BY EMT. I SAW SEVERAL MORE ACCIDENTS DURING THE HOUR I WAS THERE AND INSISTED THAT WE GET OUR MONEY BACK. I WAITED IN THE LOBBY OVER AN HOUR BEFORE THE OWNER ARRIVED . HE WAS EXTREAMLY RUDE AND REFUSED TO COMPENSATE FOR OUR UNUSED LIFT TICKETS. I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS SKI RESORT TO ANYONE. INFACT I WOULD RECOMEND THAT POEPLE DO NOT GO THERE. IT IS POORLY RUN, AND VERY DANGEROUS!!!!

I've tubed in lots of places and this was the most unsafe operation I have ever seen. You are literally taking your life in your hands. The only supervision we saw was a guy checking your ticket at the bottom. There was no one spacing the trips down, so you could easily smash into someone else. The bob sled type run didn’t seem to have proper banking, the wait was unbearable and the parking was ridiculous. Lots of people were complaining, so I know it wasn’t just us. It was so bad, that I called the police after we left (after 1 run, with no refund) because I was sure that someone was going to get killed there.

We visited this place on December 19, 2006.
This place is extemely unsafe!! We have tubed at Hunter Mountain in the past and it has been great, but unfortunately they were not open so I did a google search and found this place. I called the morning of the day we went and I was told they had made snow and the conditions were great. When we got there I asked if the tubing run was safe for the ages of the six children we had with us and they said yes. Unfortunately we could not see the run so I went with them and went down first. They told us we had to go down head first, on our belly and if we wanted to slow down to drag our feet. It was a sheet of ice and I feared for my safety. I had absolutely no control over the tube and was afraid I would end up over the side and into the woods or worse yet with a serious head injury. All the children with us had no choice but to come down the hill and they all ended up with a bruised chin. One of our kids actually flipped off and banged her head. The kids were terrified. We went in to tell the operators that it was unsafe and we were not staying. They did not want to give us a refund. After some discussion we did finally get all but one ticket refunded. This place was being run by a group of young interns from another country, no "adults" present. At this time we also noticed the interns in the building were drinking beer. I also found out after we came down the hill that the gentelman (boy) running the very dangerous rope tow had a beer on the ground next to him. As you get on the rope tow you are warned to watch your head. This is because the steel cable pulliing you up the very icy hill is low to the ground and it swings back and forth nearly hitting your head.
We drove nearly 2 hours and when we arrived we used the restroom. There was a problem with the water and they had no running water or flushing toilet. (Very gross!) The kids had put soap on their hands to wash them and that is when we found out there was no water. We asked if we could have a bottle of water (which they sell there) to rinse the kids hands and we had to pay for it. Maybe this place is better later in the year when there is actually snow, but they have clearly opened too early in the season and are operating under very dangerous conditions. I would stay away!!

THIS TUBING AREA IS NOT SAFE. The first thing that struck me as odd (aside from having to walk across a busy country road to get the lift tickets) was the signs. “Tubing is a dangerous sport.” It is? “We strongly recommend the use of a helmet. Helmets available for $10.00/ day.” Now, while I also support children using helmets for skiing, ALL of the tubing areas I know had wide, straight lanes with long, obstruction-free runouts and professionals at the top providing instructions and separation. The worst that might happen would be that a child could fall out of the tube and slide to a stop. Not here. The truth is this area is simply not big enough to support a safe tubing park. The entire tubing area is perched on top of a stubby knuckle on the farmburban Connecticut landscape. It’s so short that the 4 lanes (only three of which were usable on the day I was there) are laid out in a series of curves and switchbacks in order to fit them in. Though there were NO SIGNS indicating either minimum age or skill level for participants, you had to know how to steer the tube by dragging your feet, on your belly, head first (not allowed at other tubing areas because of the risk of neck injuries) in order to keep from flipping over or worse, as in my case, escaping the lane dividers onto bare, boulder-strewn mud. I spent several panicked moments trying to get to my 5 (nearly six) year-old daughter who did a face plant into the icy shoulder of the lane when our heavy, two-man (extra $20.00) tube landed on top of her after flipping over. There were no attendants at the top providing separation and collisions were common. If I had been able to see the area before buying the lift tickets (it was screened from view until you were on the single tow line), I wouldn’t have even considered it for my kids. The owner was obstinate and abusive when I asked for a refund. This area is also relatively expensive at $20.00 for a 90-minute session. Don’t waste your time with this place.

I had to write in after someone gave this place a 5. I've been to every place in CT and this is by far last, except when it comes to crowds. No one was there the night I skied there until I was getting ready to leave. Tiny Yagoo Valley, Rhode Islands only hill is a LOT better.
