Wow!!! this is the hidden gem of Colorado, no lift lines cheap tickets and a fun place to go.I have been riding for 13 years and every year I go to Colorado the big resorts lift ticket prices are a joke, $80/day to wait in lines for 30min.+, but Sunlight I don't even need to unbuckle half the time to get on the lift. I think the only thing that I don't like about Sunlight is that the lifts are from 2 generations ago which translates into a long trip up the hill. I have made friends with several locals so its always a treat to go there and hook up with them and ride.So if you like lift lines, expensive lift tickets, and clogged trails don't come here because you want have any of that.

Went to sunlight this Feb for the 1st time. it was a great side trip from glenwood as I was driving back home. stayed in tahoe for nearly a month and then in park city for a week, did not want to spend big $ at front range resorts and their lift lines, it was sat. Sunlight is easy drive off I-70 about half hour or so, the sign to sunlight off the highway to aspen is easy to miss. very little crowd for a sat in colorado, half to 1 minute lift line is unreal, but I would say it was a 5-8 minutes wait for all their 3 or 4 chairs are very very very slow. their staff was very nice and friendly, I have found it interesting that people working at slower lifts tend to be more friendly than those working at high speed lifts, even in the same resort, guess they understand your pain of riding a slow one. now their runs, the ute is a very nice green 3 miles long from the top all the way to bottom, very few people and it was wide, great for beginer or you want ride at downhill speed without worrying about hitting anyone. the blues are so so but its long blue is good for crusing at high speed. the blacks, I did not find any groomed black so the easier blacks were bump runs while the one thru controlled gate was bump and crud mix, pretty fun for a single black diamond. sunlight extreme is their controlled area all labeled double diamonds except the one mentioned above and I did not feel they were much easier then the ones in park city. some of them are slot like almost like tree skiing and I did not bring my helmet up the hill so it really tested my nerve. couple of them were pretty steep, like the heathen and teeds run, they say the heathen is 52 degrees, that is overwhelming, 40-45 degrees would be accurate, a pitch of about a 20 feet drop is probably where they calculated 52 degrees, but anyway, steep skills are needed unless you want to chase the fall line and test your helmet. the ski patrols are doing a good job to close all the control gates at around 2:30 and those runs are all pretty shot within 20 mins walking distance to the lodge so I guess sunlight is rather a very safe place to ski. by the way their park is like a joke so if you ride twin tip skis you would want to go to aspen.

I may be a bit biased in that this is my "home" mountain and the mtn I grew up on. But it is definatley worth the drive in so many ways. The people are great, little to no crowds, great runs, personality, overall great mtn!
