I came to Breckenridge in late February for a three-night, two-day trip. We stayed in a slopeside condo which was excellent. Very convenient to wake up and walk to the slopes, and the same at the end of the day. The terrain was very impressive. I like the blacks and double-blacks the best, but there is plenty of great blues here for the intermediate skiers. All the blue trails and many black trails were very wide and well groomed. We skied on a Friday and a Saturday and experienced fairly good-sized crowds each day. As far as activities, Breckenridge is excellent. Staying at the resort is a must. The downtown area has a great nightlife with bars, restaurants, shops, etc. The town also runs a free bus around the area so you don't have to worry about driving anywhere. Also, most of the restaurants and such are reasonably priced in the town. Lift ticket prices were high ($86/day), but this lift ticket also allows you to go to Keystone and Arapahoe Basin (we didn't go though). Overall, though, a very impressive resort.

I've skiied at Breckenridge for over 10 years, over 40 days a season. The people who state that Breckenridge is too beginner obviously don't know the terrain very well. As a veteran, let me impress upon you that Breck has the most extreme terrain of ANY resort, including Vail. I can always find extreme cliffs and double-diamonds that will knock the socks off you! Come to Breck if you're into extreme terrain. If you like greens and blues, go to Keystone.

The positives are the town is awesome, a lot of good shopping and dining. Great beginner terrain. Excellent terrain parks. Now the negatives. They need to change all of Peak 7 to green trails. It is definitely not blue trails. This mountain gets crowded with long lift lines. The terrain is either very steep or very flat. Windy mountain, they shut down all upper lifts by noon one day, leaving only beginner and intermediate (really beginner) terrain open.
Peak 9, 10, Lift 6 and Imperial have the best terrain. Try not to ski to base unless you are leaving because it gets real real flat and crowded.

Breck is an authentic town, as opposed to recreated places like Vail. Good food, nice cafe shops and outstanding architecture. In general a great place to walk around. Skiing is awesome for a beginner like me, but if you are an expert, keep in mind that most of the blues in Breck can be greens in Vail. Not sure if the same logic applies to the blacks. I mastered the blues, which I found surprisingly easy for my limited skills. Only one gave me real trouble. The view is awesome, but in this category Vail is also better. In summary, great town, closer to Denver than most CO resorts and good skiing if you are a beginner. Also, way less crowded than Copper Mountain. It was easy to find solitaire places even though I skiied President's Day wknd.

Well, the town itself is beautiful, but Brek is essentially the "flattest" mountain in colorado. Sure, if your a beginner, this is your paradise, since most of the blue runs (if not all) turn into greens before you reach the bottom of the chairlift (most runs seem short, there is good terrain near the top but to get to the base you pretty much have to be on flats). If your planning a trip to Breck, its a nice place to stay but if you wanna ski, do it at Copper mountain or even keystone (far superior trails).

Breckenridge is terrific for beginners. I ski only every two years, so this was a perfect place for me to ski. Breck has many beginner slopes, and it will also entertain those interested in intermediate and advanced slopes. For beginners, try the west side of the mountain, rather than the east. There are significantly less people during weekdays, although Friday morning and afternoon were busy. This place also has a bunny slope for those beginners who want to warm up before officially hitting the green slopes.
For other activities in the Breck area, you can try the Recreation Center where you will find two heated pools (one with a slide), indoor and outdoor jacuzzi, gym, indoor jogging track and racketball courts. Admission fee is $10. A group of us spent several hours here enjoying the facility.

I ventured to Breckenridge in early Feb of 2006 where we found an abundance of fresh powder for the week that we lodged there. I have read many reviews for this location, and having only been to Heavenly, Squaw, Mammoth and Mount Rose, I don't have much to compare it to. I loved Breckenridge though. The conditions were fantastic. I did not experience the overcrowding that most complain about, but than again I plan my trips to be at the good resorts during the week. I did ski on Sunday and found the lift lines more than efficient. The place was empty in early Feb during midweek, and this was during persistent snowstorm. Visibility was good. I had intermediate slopes to myself with about 1 1/2 feet of fresh powder.
ON a side note, while driving to the airport saturday morning the traffic leaving denver towards the west was backed up a good 15 to 20 miles at 6 AM to hit the fresh powder.
The terrain was terrific, and gave me plenty of options for 4+ days of skiing. I had wanted to venture to A-Basin, Keystone, but never did. I purchased my lift tickets on the way in from Denver at an area grocery store for cheaper than list.
The Apres was fantastic, though definitely a touristy location. I am one who liked the quaint town layout, even if it is manufactured and pricey.
The parking was free though my lodge had a shuttle.
Rent an AWD car and enjoy your choice. Sure it may be busy on Saturdays, but you are the one who chose to go at the peak time understanding the risk, so stop complaining!

I went to Breck with my family this past year and we all loved it! Everyone had runs to enjoy! Breckenridge had a good variety of runs throughout all of the peaks. It did get chilly but the mountain and town were incredible!

I went skiing April 1-5 at breckenridge, and I enjoyed the nice variety of blues and blacks. The runs on peak 7 have a variety of terrain and tended not to be crowded. Peak 10 had some runs that were a little more difficult but also some that could be done by intermediates, but the nice thing about it was there were not many people on it. The Imperial express has great runs off of it and really saved alot of time. The Imperial bowl was great, and the veiw from the top of the Lake chutes is amazing. Peak 9 has a few nice blues but not many difficult runs. Peak 9 tended to be more crowded then the rest of the peaks. Skiing on april 2 was great becauase there was a few inches of new snow, the rest of the week it was slushy at the bottom, and very windy and icy on the Imperial runs, but the T-bar runs were nice. The prices at vista haus were high and other restaraunts were also higher than usual but not as bad as at some ski places. The staff was nice and helpful whenever you needed them. Overall I really enjoyed Breckenridge and i hope to go back some day, but there are other places i will go before i come back. Breckenridge is a great place to go with family and friends for a good variety of types and difficulties of runs.

I spent a week at Breck during the week of Feb. 4 - 11, 2006. I liked Breckenridge quite a bit. The resort has a wealth of blue runs for the intermediates and a good ski/ride school for the beginners or the upper level skiiers looking to hone their technique. Breck also have a very lively villiage with just about any kind of shop one could wish for.
Terrain - 4
Lots of blue cruisers. Limited advanced/Expert terrain. The new Imperial Express lift is GREAT. It opens up the above-treeline terrain to those that don't wish to hike to the open bowl skiing. Peak 10 offers steeper terrain. Bump runs are pretty easy to find. I understand the Freeway terrain park is among the best in North America, perhaps the world, if you're into the park and pipe scene. Breck tends to be a bit windy due to the mountain's geographical setup, but not unbearably so. The mountain layout, however, is another detractor. I stayed mostly on Peak 9 and 10. It takes a lot of time to make your way from one side of the mountain to the other.
Service - 4
Didn't quite know how to rate this one. Lifties were friendly. I booked everything online, so I cannot speak to the lift ticket purchasing process and such. Own my own equipment, so I didn't deal with the rental areas either.
Activities - 5
Plenty to do on and off the slopes. The town of Breck is awesome. Probably the best ski town I've been to.
Crowds - 4
It can get crowded, especially at certain areas and at some of the base lifts. However, with the mountain being spread-out, the crowds are also disbursed. Funny, the layout of the mountain detracts in one way, but adds in another.
Value - 3
As with any ski destination resort, things are expensive. Especially anything on-mountain (meals, etc).

Breckenridge is a great place to learn how to ski! At breckenridge the blue runs are great. Breckenridge is more of a beginngers course than an advance resort. I give breckenrige 2 thumbs up and the town is also great for doing stuff after a hard day of skiing.

Awesome place. Runs were great, tons of powder and tons of freedom. Better in my mind than Copper Mountain just around the corner.
We spent a few days out there and didn't see it all, we just had so much fun.

Have skiied the other Summit County resorts before. Breck was the last one we tried. First off, the snow is great this year (in all the CO resorts). You should definitely go to one of them. Breck was busy (holiday period bw christmas and new years). But lines weren't terrible once you got above the base. The trail system is easy to understand and figure out. Peak 10 receives a lot less usage than the others, but is very windy and much colder than the others. Breck overates their trails in terms of difficulties. A blue run at A basin is a black at Breckenridge and so on. Still there are runs to challenge almost all skiiers or riders. The town was a little too Disney during the day, but much cuter when all lit up at night. All in all a nice place, still next year I will be trying Jackson Hole not returning to Breck.

Breckenridge is exactly what a southern gal imagines a ski resort to be. The terain is picture perfect. The local people are polite and glad to have us as their guests. Breckenridge is very inviting. The town lights up at night and you feel like you are in a Rockwell painting. Breckenridge has a variety of specialty shops. I can only tell you if you have to choose a ski resort, make Breckenridge your choice.
You deserve the best.

Breckenridge is the absolute epitomy of the 'vision' of a ski town or ski resort you picture in your mind's eye when thinking of winter skiing or snowboarding, whether or not you are new to snow sports or activities. Perfect for participants or non-skiiers / boarders alike. It has ideal terrain for ALL beginners to ease them into the sport. Nothing too terrifying for any level. It also provides sufficient terrain challenges for those who improve or progress faster. Great ski town "look and feel". My family has taken dozens of guests and friends of the family/kids to Breck for years and virtually 'every' person has loved it. Most have returned to Brack on their own or with us during a following season. Not the place to challenge seasoned veterans, but you do not get to be a veteran if y'all don't start someplace and Breck is perfect! Plenty of trails and lifts. It does tend to get overly crowded during holidays, as do other resorts, but then, all these people have discovered the same secret of having a great time on the slopes and later in town. You can never go wrong starting your snow experience in Breckenridge. Your friends and family will appreciate your thoughtful consideration for site selection that harbors virtually everything for winter sports activities.

A wonderful all-around ski resort, especially during non-holiday periods. Great terrain and trail variety at every level. Weve experienced good, reliable snow throughout the season, having skied Breck in Dec, Jan, Feb and Mar. Super for our family of five intermediate/advanced skiers. With top-notch hike-to terrain and the high alpine bowls, Breck has outgrown the tame mountain label of years past. Can be cold and windy, and the higher altitude can effect some. Relatively easy access from Denver and the airports. World-class ski town with fun stuff for all ages. Makes a nice base camp location for skiing Summit County, and over Vail Pass, too. One of our top-five favorite ski mountains. After some 25 days on the mountain, I still look forward to more
