On our first trip out west to spring ski, the wife and I found A-Basin deserving of its laid back, down home reputation as a skiers' paradise. We couldn't have asked for more: extra friendly service (when someone snagged my rentals by mistake... the guys lent me another pair so I could grab the last few runs of the day); good, cheap food to fortify me (the giant turkey leg rocked); fun, mixed terrain (that wore us out despite thinking we were in shape... :)! And great weather and decent snow despite our late spring dates! Awesome. Will do it again asap.

AB IS THE BEST DAY SKI TRIP YOU WILL EVER HAVE. WHETHER ITS SICK TERRAIN, SKING THE TREES OR JUST CRUISING, THIS PLACE HAS IT ALL. IF YOU WANT A BIG RESORT, GREAT FOOD OR BARS THEN GO ELSEWHERE, THIS PLACE IS ALL ABOUT THE SKIING.

Great terrain and awesome attitude. Just down the road you get yelled at for changing in the lot (Keystone) but at the Basin you have people grilling, dogs running around, and people enjoying themselves. What a friendly place, wish I was there right now. Watch out for the sun, the altitude can really roast you so slap on plenty of suncreen.

A-Basin is one of the best mountains in colorado. The laid back environment is one to be treasured. East Wall skiing can be amazing even if it hasn't snowed in weeks.
Hucking the Pali Face Cornice is a nice way to show off your skills to your out of town friends.
Personally I love the quick trip from denver, the lack of lines, and the great snow!
However, please don't ski here because I want it all to myself
Activities...well bring your own and you will have fun...Very dog friendly, grill friendly, beer friendly...well just friendly!

Early season at Arapahoe Basin is something to behold, get your gear and get up there. This season has already had great early snow and more is on the way. Riding is open from Top to Bottom so forget about the lift lines, they are gone. Forget about other destinations in Summit County, the Basin is the only place to go for early season fun.
Great beer selection in the bar also as well as top-notch Bloody Mary's!

Right by the beach, booyieee!
I love the basin. Not because of the mtn, which has variety and is challenging, but because of the people that go there. The basin doesnt have many green runs, so you miss the gapers and children that you run into at Keystone. And they also don't have as many summit county frat types that Breckenridge has. The lift lines are short, except in the early and late season, when they are the only mtn open. And best of all you can go to your car for beers and grillin on teh BBQ.
The only bad thing about the basin is the flat light. Given that most of the runs are above treeline it is very hard to see the conditions in white out / flat light conditions.
And the have good bloody marys at the bar /nuff said

Abasin is a family favorite! It is easy to get to from Denver and you miss the after tunnel traffic. Amazing views, great people, varied terrain, powder stashes, terrain parks, and not to mention bloody marry's.
Small resort atmosphere with something different for each of us. Less crowds, one base area, and it is a short walk to your car. No expensive parking, buses, or lines. You can park on the "beach" if you get there early and ski to the car, but either way be sure to bring the BBQ grill!
