Please be careful when visiting this place. I would advise getting a second opinion (the drive down to the Bishop vet is worth it, trust me). Now, don't get me wrong. The vet is extremely qualified, and he's supposedly one of the best animal orthopedic vets.
But the experience I've had, and one that has been repeated by at least seven locals I've spoken with over the past year, is that the staff needs a lesson in customer service. In my case, when the vet recommended a $150 test to see whether we should medicate my dog (after he had already verbally diagnosed the problem and had said that medication would be necessary), I was confused. I asked, "What exactly will this test show us? Do we have to do it?"
My ignorance got the best of me, I guess.
The vet became extremely irritated and defensive, making statements such as, "Well, you're obviously the expert," and "You just don't want to spend the money to take care of your dog," and "I don't appreciate being second-guessed."
A friend had a similar response from the vet when she questioned the vet's quotation of over $1000 to take care of a cyst (which included multiple tests, the surgery, and multiple follow-up procedures). She went to Bishop instead and spent under $400... and her dog is doing great.
The exam room is unorganized and sloppy, and also functions as the surgery room. And the cages where the recovering dogs/cats are held are NOT EVEN IN A SEPERATE ROOM. So if your dog doesn't like other dogs, be prepared.
The staff is rude, the prices are ridiculous (and in my case, the test WAS NOT necessary), and the place is a mess.
Just please be careful and STAND YOUR GROUND when visiting this clinic. Just remember: you are not a bad pet-parent just because you question ANY vet's recommendation. If you have a gut feeling that it's not right, just go get a second opinion.
