My buddy and I went here a day after the first big storm of the year. It used to be that if you knew where to look, you could find powder stashes 4 days after a storm. Not the case anymore with the new high speed lift. It was also a bit more crowded for a mid-week day than it used to be. We still had a good time, but the powder stashes were harder to come by. It will only become harder since Alpine bought it and there are plans for a second high speed lift in the next couple years to replace the Ellis Chair.

That said, it is still very good for beginners and intermediates. My oldest son (11) loves the place.

this place was great. we got 17" the night before i went so needless to say, it was awesome. i am no expert, but far more advanced than intermediate and was entertained all day. the tree skiing was awesome as there was powder to be found all day long. i spent half a day on one run essentially, shooting through different tree lines in powder above my knees. its no utah fluff, but it was still great. terrain is not super steep, but the great snow made for one fun day. and the VIEWS were the best of the 5 resorts we rode in tahoe. there was plenty of freeriding to be had. resort is much much bigger than the trail will lead you to believe. i went twice while i was in tahoe......

I'm a beginner without much to compare this place to, but I had a really good time. The lack of crowds, amazing views, and well-groomed runs made for some awesome boarding. I loved the fact that I could park fifty feet away from the first lift. My favorite run was called Lombard Street- it's all switchback with some sweet hairpin turns. If I'm ever in Tahoe again I would definitely come back here.

Homewood was a cheap day. We had 6 people in the group and picked up 2 for 1 lift tickets in So. Lake Tahoe the night before. We hit Homewood on a Sunday and normal weekend tickets are still cheap at $45 (Only $27 on weekdays) For a weekend ticket costing $22.50 this place had real value. The Terrain is mostly blue and the Vertical is one of the lowest in Tahoe, but cheap lift tickets make up for that. Nice long green run for beginners in the group up top, so they could take in the views. I hit the blues and had a good time. There's enough here to get a good days skiing in. 60+ Runs and 8 Lifts make it easy to get around. Like the trail maps said, it's bigger than it looks. Best views of the lake and you can see Heavenly on the other side. Easy drive from So. Lake Tahoe on CA-89. First stop before Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley. No Crowds on a Sunday. No lift lines, very little people on the mountain, no lines for food and beer. No crowds, cheap tickets, easy drive = true vaule. Save a few bucks and make the trip into Homewood.

Good terrain for beginners & intermediate riders (with the exception of having to use a tow rope for the bunny slope). Friendly staff. No attitudes. Less crowded than most resorts. Beautiful homes for rent nearby, and such great lake views. I've gone with my family for a weekend for 3 years now, and it's always a great time.

This mountain had one of the best scenic views while skiing. There were no activities nor crowds but it was at the end of the season so it was to be expected but they still had a good base to ski in May. I would recommend this mountain for a beginner but plenty terrain to ski for an intermediate. This mountain very affordable & more than worth the experience!

March 2005 was my first time skiing. The first place my wife and I went was Alpine Meadows and it was overwhelming for my skill level and I ended up leaving discouraged and sore. The next 2 days of skiing were at Homewood and boy what a difference it made on my confidence. First of all, the value is like night and day pricewise compared to the other resorts I researched in the area. Now prior to going there, the guy at the ski rental shop stated this resort was like 20 years behind the times with slow lifts and whatnot. I guess with myself being a beginner, this did not bother me - especially considering the low price, lack of crowds, nice beginner-intermediate stuff and breathtaking views of the lake. After the 2nd and final day skiing here, my confidence was redeemed and now I can't wait to get back out there again - while I would and will ski here again, I am eager to see what else is out there now that I feel like I'm closer to the intermediate range. Unforgettable though.
