Where else can you ski in the spring for $10? Donner offers old school prices every week- you have to check their calendar, but its such a great value its worth skipping school or work for a day of snowboarding- $10!!! I love how everything is close, too, and the lift lines are usually pretty short. The backside is by far the best place on the whole mountain- nothing is ever tracked out. The staff is so nice- they really care about the place they work for, and it shows. The place is old, but it has character- it isnt the big corporate attitude- its a really relaxed place- i see why theres a lot of beginners on the front side- it seems like a good place for little kids, but at the same time is a good place for intermediate or advanced people, too.

I agree with Dave from Sacramento on every count except that it's better than Boreal. The terrain at Boreal, in my opinion, is much better BUT the crowds at Boreal keep me far away. Donner is a beginner/intermediate resort with a small-town, friendly feel to it. It's been a great place to learn, and to bring beginners to teach. Otherwise, I go elsewhere. The price is unbeatable, which is another reason why it's such a great place to learn.
