Terrain was great, but my family had a bad experience at what is suppose to be at a "top" restaurant at Kicking Horse. I felt compelled to write this review to let others know what they may be in store for. When a person (or family) purchases a vacation spot at a ski resort, food (at least for our family is very important). Although there are still only a small handful of restaurants at Kicking Horse, we were okay with it because it was enough... as well as long as the food and service was good. Unfortunately, we went to Corks restaurant and we were treated like we were not welcomed. We had made reservations two weeks in advance. We were at most 5 minutes late. When we arrived, we were told by "Paul Trudeau" that our table was given away because we were late. We explained that it was only at most 5 minutes. His response "You can sit at the bar or eat somewhere else." I'm sure you all know that it is completely unacceptable that they give away a table because you are 5 minutes late. Of course, his response was also unacceptable. My family went there with the intention of purchasing a vacation home, but left never wanting to return to Kicking Horse. I hope others will read this review and write about their experience. I think it is important to share with the fellow public so that they are not disappointed and treated so rudely. (Also, we found out that Paul Trudeau is the owner of the restaurant and hotel. So if you stay there, you will be giving your money to someone who is very unprofessional and rude.)

Service score above is based on a horrible experience at COrks restaurant. Since the resort is new and not many nice restaurants, Corks is one of only few choices. Although they received an award, they don't deserve it. We had the most horrible experience there. We were never treated so rudely. The "bald guy" (I think his name is Paul?) actually asked what our problem was after serving us wrong drinks and food order. What a jerk! If you're thinking of investing/ buying a property at Kicking Horse, be aware... not too many nice restaurants yet... and with Corks "bald guy" there, it's one less place to eat!

Kicking horse has some of the best powder I have skied in ages. The terrain has something for everyone with nice wide open runs and some amazing glade skiing, further lift development would see a great increase in skiable area. The gondola to the top can have some wicked crowds, so time it well and have lunch at the top to enjoy the view. If you can handle the switch back roads into Golden and the resort it is worth it. Apres ski still provides a village feel, friendly staff, an upmarket resort without the expensive pricetag, tickets represent excellent value for money. We stayed at Selkirk townhouse on snow accommodation absolutely awesome and highly recommended!

Ryan unfortunately reviewed the hill when there was no pow, unfortunate because they get plenty and it’s nice and light. As for skiers like Greg, rejoice in the fact that there will be few uncoordinated pylons in your way as you rip down the mountain as fast as your ability will permit. Experts will love the terrain and intermediates will find plenty to challenge themselves. A few more lifts would be great, but the inconvenience is worth it.

Amazing! Powder top to bottom. Groomers were awesome with packed powder, trees were FULL of pow, upper bowls were insane. Potential for this area is rediculous. add a couple more lifts and another 500 acres of terrain and the people will start flocking to this place, so get some now before the crows suck the fun out of it. even with just 2 lifts going, I never waited more than a minute or 2. Like everyone else, I should warn that the steep here is ÜBERsteep. I've done plenty of blacks at Marmot and Louise, but I got scared by some of their blues, nvm black. speaking of lake louise, I couldn`t believe the difference in snow condition. At KH we're getting powder all over, perfect temps, mainly sunny skies. 45 minutes east, seems like it hasnt snowed in a month with rocks, ice patches and nasty superextrahardpack freeeezing temps, wind, and overcast skies. Came back to stay the night in Golden (because its WAY cheaper), and the skies were nice, there was no wind. Climate is very different. And all the talk about Louise having the best scenery for a north american ski resort, check out KH and Panorama(in my opinion, MUCH nicer). I know it sounds more like me knocking Louise, but it's just to say, I know people that have to Louise and no where else just because that's where they always go, but there are so many other great places to ski!!
Point being: if your thinking of visiting Lake Louise, Sunshine, Panorama or anything else in the area, KH is DEFINITELY worth your consideration (especially in this record snow year - half way through the season and they've already reached their annual average!).

They totally exagerate what their snow depth is. Went there a few years ago because they were boasting a 130cm base...we skiied in grass and mud and went through puddles to get back onto the gondola. Food and beverage facilities at the base are too small. Restaurant at the top was the only thing we liked. Terrain is for expert skiiers only. A beginner will not have fun here. Our group will never go back.

This mountain is amazing! Get in early before the crowds first hear about this place then find it! When the snow is good this place goes off- steep deep and fast. So much terrain and very little grooming make this place wild and fun. Although was only there for 10days of seriously good snow so little bias. Down sides of the mountain are it needs more lifts and could be tough when the snow gets thin on the ground. Also if you're looking for night life- it has none unless you go to Golden 12 miles down the mountain. Try it soon.
