There was plenty of snow, but the snow was packed powder, and a little icy, I thought it needed more grooming on the bunny hill for the kids. There was just a short wait for lifts. There were several runs open. It was spring skiing conditions. There weren't very many people on the slopes.

Sunrise is a great mountain with a wide variety of terrain. Three mountains and two bases really helps spread out the az crowds. Not much tree skiing or back country type to be found. Warm weather can make for fantastic spring skiing but can also turn conditions icy quickly. If you are there right after a storm you might find yourself thinking you are in colorado somewhere or tahoe. That is until you go into one of the lodges, which is really my only complaint. Sunrise is owned and operated by the White Mountain Apache Tribe. In MY opinion it is operated poorly. I have frequently experienced poor service like running out menu items and having one bartender for a crowded lodge causing lines of thirty people. You'll find some great steeps and deeps and you can't beat the ticket prices.
