My family (2 adults, 2 kids) has now been to Smugg's twice for week long ski vacations. There are some pros and cons, but ultimately, we will be back.

Pros: Great variety of terrain
3 mountains.. many days worth of skiing.
Lots of off-mountain activities
Fantastic ski instructors!
Pleasant staff
Not very crowded
Beautiful Vermont views

The major CON is the lift system! As most ski resorts around New England are investing in modern lifts, Smuggs is clearly an outlier with very slow out-dated 2-person chairlifts.
