Waited 40 years to finally ski the beast! And while I was in heaven, the rest of the family was bumming because my wife felt the terrain was too hard (too many ungroomed black diamonds) and my teenagers thought the terrain parks were weak. If snow gets into the forecast; DO NOT WAIT TO LINE UP powder skis. I normally ride GS race skis fast through groomed and partially packed terrain, and if I go off trail, know how to get them through the snow, but it's a lot of work. Tried one run with those skis in 15 inches of fresh champagne and knew that I'd be done in by 11am if I tried to ride them through the fresh powder -- headed directly to the ski shop at the base and got the last pair of powder skis in my size -- what a wonderful day I had after that! Also, if you know where to look, you can score really reasonable lift arrangements - in my case - I paid $25 per day (midweek days) to someone who had transferable season passes that he wasn't using midweek. Iron Blossam is also an excellent location, if a bit spartan in appearance (a lot of exposed concrete inside the building)
