We visited the 27th of December 2009, 2 days after heavy rain. I complement them on getting the snow into decent shape (we went to Blue Mountain the next day: horrible snow). Very pleased on the terrain and snow quality at a busy time of the year. You pay for tickets and rentals at same time (or order online): nice convenience. Returning rentals is just a quick scan of the skis' bar code and you are done. Cafeteria was crowded as expected. Many leave their stuff on tables for hours, so just shove it to the end of the table and sit. Sodas: $3 bucks a bottle is steep, tickets were $56 on a holiday, but we could have skiied 14 hours (or died, whichever comes first). Looking forward to a return trip.

Camelback probably has the best terrain in the Poconos, and more of it than its top competitors, Blue and Elk. There are several advanced runs from the top that range from steep moguls, to more rolling and good cruising runs. None of them are long, but most have good fall lines and a bit of variety.

Besides perhaps the best skiing in the Poconos, not much else can be said about da'Back. Incredibly crowded, a base lodge set-up that needs a map of its own, a lousy ticket policy (no sensible half-day tickets; why doesn't everyone go to the 4 hour flex ticket concept?) and not much of a customer-friendly feel to the place. Why be friendly when any yahoo can drive a short distance on I-80 to get there?

But if you can catch a power day mid-week, go somewhere else. I'm likely to be at Camelback.

I am so disgusted with these guys!!! this was my worst experience ever! these guys are just looking for the ways to rip you off!!
We were planning a wedding at Camelback Ski Resort, Tannersville, PA.
The wedding coordinator, Mary Bianco, was giving us all sorts of false information for 2 months. She is completely unprofessional. Instead of asking for 2-3 k for the reception, food and beverages, like we were told before, they asked for 13k in the final proposal!!! Here's some examples of how they violated the initial agreement:
tent rental 6k instead of $250, as promised;
we were told, there's no location fee, although THERE IS ONE!
we were told, they would provide us with chairs, tables and dance floor although THEY DIDN'T!
dinner: $50 per person instead of 45, as listed on their website.
AND MANY MANY MANY MORE examples!!!

Mediocre resort, the crowds were absurd, (the line for rentals was about 2.5 hours) and by the time we got rentals, they were out of certain sizes of skis and were making substitutions or asking people to wait for returns.

The trails, arguably the best part of the resort, only suit intermediate to advanced skiers. Their beginner trails are poorly marked, few and far between, and overly crowded. The advanced trails are too easy for those accustomed to skiing in Colorado.

Service wise, the staff is a bit lazy, uninformed, and sometimes downright rude. There were multiple instances of being brushed aside when requesting help and multiple instances of staff members standing idly by while lines formed out the door.

And suffice to say, the price that they charge is definitely not worth the experience you get. The food, which is understandably overpriced, was not fresh and caused a member of our party to get two days worth of food poisoning.

In conclusion, avoid at all costs unless you really have no other choice. Skiing in Colorado,
New York, and even Vermont are likely better.
