One of my favorite places in spite of traverses crowds and cement. Trees are better then anywhere and I love skiing trees. You can avoid the crowds by hitting the trees. You really have to earn your steep terrain. Plan ahead and you can have a great day.

Heavenly is a another massive area with lots of lifts, lots of terrain and a great Lake Tahoe location - relatively easy to get in and out of. I prefer Squaw slightly due to its easy access to all parts of the mountain -- Heavenly is more spread out and can take longer to get to the opposite side of the area, if you have to meet up with friends or family, but you are also much closer to the South Lake Tahoe action, if that's an important part of your visit.

I've been there twice now and the first time in 2005 it was pretty good. Lots to do afterwards in town and the terrain is pretty good too. The last trip in 09 it was crazy-busy and the prices were a little steep.

It's got remarkable views from lake to desert and great tree skiing with big terrain. Closest to town so can be very busy. It's a casino destination so there is alot to do at night for adult entertainment. Taking the boat across the lake to Squaw Valley is a pretty fun way to go given how unique it is. On a big snow year (I've been there when the plow drifts make it impossible to see from one side of the street to the other in Tahoe) it really is a skier's delight as there are multiple options to explore in day tripping range. And of course deals to be found given the "gambling nature" of Tahoe itself.
