Very nice ski area, all though the number of slopes is a bit misleading. The town of Fernie is very small and has no nightlife what so ever. I stayed at 3 Sisters motel. Simplicity with good service, a nice pool and small sauna. I was there from Feb 28th to March 9th. On weekdays it was a bit too quiet...

When it is snowing (vs drizzling) Fernie is skiers heaven. It has glades, steeps, drops, bumps and big big snow. Love it here. Drawbacks are the longer lines on busy weekends and holidays, and an old day lodge that needs a reno mostly to create more room. There are some pretty fantastic schutes from a number of peaks and long runs with great pitch. Had the best 'wind sift' day here and my best powder days. Good cross country and skate skiing terrain next door to the hill (groomed frequently) as well as snowshoeing trails that are well marked. Town is small and we like that - might not be as appealing to those that like lots of restaurants and night life. Beyond a few gems, Fernie is rather slow in those aspects.
