The complex of comfortable condominiums and lodge rooms grew out of the Mount Telemark alpine ski area, first opened in 1947. Lodge construction began in 1972 with the massive 55-foot tall, 155-ton field stone fireplace that still greets guests with a warm glow. The lodge's distinctive star-shape was conceived by famed architect Herb Fritz, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. That year also saw the introduction of world-class cross-country ski trails. The resort now offers a variety of activities, including snowboarding, cross-country skiing, tubing, snowshoeing, ice skating, horse-drawn sleigh rides and dog sledding weekends. |
