Anthony Lakes Ski Area is located in the majestic Elkhorn Range of the Blue Mountains in the northeast corner of the state of Oregon.

At a 7,100-foot base elevation, the highest in the state, it is a powder paradise. With 21 trails and 300 skiable acres, Anthony Lakes offers a nice mix of runs for every level of skier.

Beginners are served by a handle tow, while intermediate and advanced skiers are whisked to the top where they can find plenty of steeps off the triple chair.

As you ride the lift to the top of the mountain, everywhere you look you will see breathtaking scenery. The massive peaks of the Elkhorn range sparkle around you, while the magnificent Wallowa Mountains, home of the Eagle Cap Wilderness stand in the distance.

Snowboarders are welcome on all trails and also enjoy the terrain park north of the chair lift.

Groups who seek a more robust backcountry experience and the challenge of snowcat skiing can cut tracks down 1,600 feet of pristine champagne powder into the remote Crawfish Basin located on the south side of the mountain. The cat seats 12.

Anthony Lakes is also home to 29 kilometers of groomed cross-country track and 11 km of single-track and snowshoe trails bordering the North Fork of the John Day Wilderness Area.

Snowmobilers will find hundreds of miles of groomed trails accessible from the area.

The day lodge offers a great view of the mountain and a cafe that specializes in freshly prepared breakfast and lunch items. Facilities include a widely praised ski school, downhill, cross-country and snowboard rentals, repairs, the Starbottle Saloon, and alpine retail shop. The Nordic Center lodge is nearby and has its own rental and retail shops. Lodging is available in the nearby communities of Baker City, Haines, North Powder and La Grande. RV spaces with electrical plug-ins are available near the lodge and lift on a first come-first serve basis with no charge.

Elk Viewing

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is providing a unique opportunity to view Rocky Mountain elk near North Powder.

During the winter months, large numbers of elk (as many as 300) congregate at this location due to a supplemental feeding program managed by the ODFW. You may take a horse drawn sleigh ride into the midst of the herd and hear information about the history of elk, life-cycle of elk and their habitat. Elk viewing tours are finished for this season. Tours begin again in mid-December.

There are a wide variety of restaurants, lodging accommodations and shops in the nearby towns of North Powder (30 minutes), Haines (30 minutes) Baker City (40 minutes), La Grande (45 minutes) and Pendleton (90 minutes).

Anthony Lakes Ski Area is located 19 miles west of the North Powder exit #285, off I-84.
