The farmhouse is sunny, spacious and smoke free, with 3 rooms (queen and double beds) and 2 1/2 shared bathrooms. After a good night's sleep, you'll wake to the smell of fresh coffee, raspberry pancakes, homemade bread or other delicious goodies (many fresh from our organic garden). While you are enjoying breakfast, you'll enjoy sweeping views of the countryside. Keep your eyes open and you might see a moose and her calf, or other abundant wildlife wandering across the hayfields.
For horse-lovers and skiers alike, if you are looking for a vacation that is off the beaten track, quiet and serene, then Speckled Mountain Ranch is for you. Whether you are a first time snow-shoer or an experience back-country skier, you will experience the serenity and beauty of miles of wilderness trails that extend into the White Mountain National Forest from our back door. Spend the morning exploring on snowshoes (we supply), skis, or if you are an experienced rider, on horseback. You might be so lucky as to catch a glimpse of a lynx, bobcat, or a snowshoe hare... Then come back to the Ranch for a delicious home-cooked meal and warm up in front of the wood stove.
There are also many x-country ski centers nearby if you prefer groomed trails. If you are a downhill skier, Sunday River Ski Resort is 12 miles from the Ranch. The B&B is open year 'round and will custom design your winter retreat to your individual interests. This may include lunch/dinner and guided snow shoeing, horseback riding (experienced only). and x-country skiing. Summer riding packages are available May-Oct.
