Mount Elbert Lodge, at the base of Independence Pass, is surrounded by National Forest.

Nestled in the wilderness, the Lodge is located on Lake Creek and provides easy access to a variety of exciting Colorado recreational and historic sites, including Aspen, Twin Lakes, and Leadville.

Mt. Elbert Lodge is open year-round allowing guests to experience all four seasons in the high country. In the winter, guests enjoy cross country skiing and snowshoeing from their back door or travel a short distance for downhill skiing. Springtime brings forth the awakening of mountain wild flowers, migration of elk herds, and access to the mountain trails. The summer agenda includes fishing, boating, biking, rafting, horseback riding, hiking and climbing. In the fall the aspen change colors and hiking is at its best as even the highest trails become accessible.
