Warning: Do not stay here. This place is a disaster.
I could deal with it being over-priced, stinky with cigarette smoke, paper thin walls, no TV, not even a coffee maker or a cup … I could've dealt, because I'm snowboarding. I don't need luxury. I just need sleep. This place gets a screaming DON'T STAY HERE review because we almost didn't get into our room in the first place. And because the owner never once called us back throughout the duration of our two night stay. Here are the highlights of our weekend at Kirkwood Towers: • We were given the wrong lockbox code upon arrival so we couldn't get into our room. We couldn't reach anyone for over an hour, even though we had prearranged a late arrival and were given a "24 hour phone number" in case of issues. After repeatedly calling our 24 hour contact, Larry, we started calling hotels in South Lake (over 30 miles away) to find a bed to sleep in for the night. Larry never did answer. (Resolution: finding a maintenance phone list in the lobby and calling all three numbers on the list… the last person answered and came and unlocked our room). • We never received a single return phone call from Larry, the lodging contact, despite over a dozen calls over the course of our two night stay. • We were told upon booking the room that we had an inclusive dinner, and weren't given instructions on how to redeem until after 2pm on Sunday, which is the day we checked out. • We were eventually emailed an apology for the wrong lockbox code and told (by Larry) that we'd have lunch and drinks on him. We called multiple times on Saturday but again, no response. No call back. We did not get our inclusive dinner, nor did we get the apology lunch and drinks we were promised. I emailed Larry to request a refund for such a horrible experience. To no surprise, I have not received a response.
