Parks & Pipes at Whiteface Mountain...

What is freestyle terrain? If we break it down here is what we find:

* free"style - (n.) - a style in which all tactics are permitted
* ter"rain - (n.) - a piece of land seen in terms of its' surface features

Sounds kinda boring doesn't it? But everyone who's out there experiencing it knows it's really about having a place where you can be challenged, create your own style and have fun. And it's definitely not boring! Whether you're a beginner or a pro the rush is just the same. Stick that trick and it's yours and you can take it anywhere. Of course, the whole mountain is a playground but these are areas where you can refine your style before you take it on tour.

What it all comes down to is this. Freestyle terrain is different wherever you go, so the definition must be too. Here is our five-part definition of freestyle terrain.

1. Kid's Park on Bronze - a place for kid's to start with bumps, rollers, a mini-halfpipe and even a PVC rail or two.
2. Lower Valley Mini-Park - Located below the tower 10 hill features including mini-tables, rails, and boxes.
3. Bear Super Pipe and 79 Railpark* - Serviced by it's own lift and located on the Bear trail. The 79 Park is an enclosed railpark with multiple lines and sound system. Hang out, hike it, or head down to the newly repositioned and much steeper Zaugg-cut Super Pipe, site of the 2007 World Cup Snowboard.
4. Lower Thruway* - Multiple rails, hits, and new features in store for '08.
5. Brookside - You asked for it and now it is back, bigger and better for '08 !!! Stay tuned for more feature info.
