"#1 Public Golf Course in New Jersey" and others nearby!

Ballyowen opened in June, 1998, and has quickly become recognized as one of the state's best courses. Situated on 250 sprawling acres atop a Sussex County plateau and surrounded by rolling farmland, craggy knolls and plunging quarries, Ballyowen is the only golf club of its kind in New Jersey. Virtually treeless with plush green fairways, Ballyowen has a very Celtic feel. The magnificent stone clubhouse embodies an “old world” design. Renowned golf course architect Roger Rulewich has masterfully sculpted Ballyowen out of the local landscape. Rulewich has created a links-style layout that provides golfers with a kaleidoscopic view of verdant fairways, pristine white bunkering and wheat-yellow native rough grasses. Our commitment to quality extends all the way from golf course conditioning to the level of service provided by the staff. Ballyowen is truly a masterpiece, as evidenced by its rating as 2002 Best Public Course in New Jersey by Golf Week Magazine!

Black Bear serves as the National Headquarters of the David Glenz Golf Academy, which boasts a learning center with 100,000 square feet of natural grass teeing area, multi-tiered synthetic launching stations and a vast array of target greens and bunkers. Footsteps away from the dramatic practice facility is the spectacular 12,000 square foot Black Bear Clubhouse. The Clubhouse features the Bear Den Grille, which affords diners with a 180-degree view of the Hamburg Mountain Range, as well as al fresco patio dining. The adjacent spacious Banquet Room provides the perfect setting for weddings, banquets, outings, or any special event.

Wild Turkey officially opened to the public on Saturday, July 7th and is the Resort’s second Roger Rulewich design, an outstanding encore to Rulewich’s award-winning Ballyowen. Located adjacent to Crystal Springs Golf Club, Wild Turkey's topography is best described as “basin & ridge”. The layout’s two distinct terrain types combine the sheer expansiveness of Ballyowen with the rugged, multi-elevated nature of Crystal Springs. While it may be easy to classify Wild Turkey as a combination of its two sister courses, Wild Turkey stands on its own merit as a uniquely designed golf course.

Minerals Golf Club (formerly the Spa Golf Club) is a stellar Robert Trent Jones, Sr. layout with a variety of sporty par threes and fours that accentuate the dramatic natural landscape. The fairways are tight and small. Fast greens require accuracy and a deft touch on each approach shot.
Minerals Golf Club is beautifully maintained and presents the golfer with a wonderful mix of hole designs. It is one of the best executive courses you will ever play!

Crystal Springs is recognized as being the best in the state…it is also considered the most challenging layout in New Jersey. The distinct character of Crystal Springs can be attributed to designer Robert von Hagge of Houston, Texas. He has long been recognized as one of the leading golf course architects in the United States. During the past few years, he has designed more than fifty courses in the United States, Europe and Japan. One of the hallmarks of a von Hagge course is the sculpted mounds which frame the fairways and greens, giving definition to each hole while adding an intense contrast of color between the fairways and roughs.
