Snowshoeing is one of the fastest growing winter sports.

Thanks to improvements in snowshoe design, modern snowshoes are light and small, and are easy and fun to use.

Become an expert snowshoer, leave the bustling crowds behind and go exploring. Your tour guide will help you navigate the woods and share local and natural historical lore.

What: Guided snowshoe tours through forested glades.

Cost: $25. Includes snowshoe rental, guided tour, a cup of cocoa and marvelous memories.

What to expect: A unique experience unlike any other winter sport. About 2 hours long, 2 miles in length. Interpretive talks. Rigorous sport for guests in good physical condition. Check with your physician if you are unsure.

What to wear: Dress warmly in layers. Wear hat and gloves. Wear synthetics or wool. No cotton! Hat, gloves, heavy boots and gaitors.

What to bring: Water bottle required. Snacks, camera, sunglasses, sunscreen and knapsack suggested.
