We can accommodate beginners or experts. All your gear (except flies and licenses) can be provided at no additional cost, or use your own. If you like to fly fish or always wanted to learn we can provide a fishing trip you will always remember.

A variety of waters are available:

Windwalker Ranch, only ten minutes from town, provides some of the best tailwater fishing around. During the winter this is home to a great number of elk and the largest trout in the valley! Trout up to 15 lbs. have been caught on this mile and a half of private water. Enjoy a warm lunch at our riverside cabin. Big fish, tall tales, and limited availability.

Stagecoach Resevoir - Travel into Pleasant Valley and fish the tail waters of Stagecoach Resevoir. This trip offers beautiful scenery, wildlife sightings, and a great day of fishing. This tail water is home to Rainbows, Cutbows, Browns, Cutthroat and Whitefish. Nymphing in pocket water provides a great opportunity for beginning flyfishermen.

Flyfish on the Yampa River in some of our favorite spots right here in downtown Steamboat. The Yampa is public from the ski area on down through the old town of Steamboat. It provides some great fishing opportunities for experts and beginners alike.

Buffalo Creek Ranch - A scenic ranch with a beautiful 55 acre pond with "FAT" Rainbow and Brown trout fishing. Smaller ponds are close by and over 5 miles of the Illinois river are waiting for you!

Three Rivers Ranch - Truly a fisherman's paradise. This ranch includes the Illinois, Michigan, Canadian, North Platte, The North Fork of the Platte and Hell's Creek. Lodging is available. Helicopter service can be arranged. By car, it's only about an hour and a half from Steamboat. The fishing is well worth the drive.

Lewin Trout Ranch - Three miles of the Elk River only fifteen minutes from downtown. If you like to fish dry flies, you will love the Elk. This is a great section for beginners and experts alike. A classic stretch of dry-fly water, fantastic stock pond and three crazy dogs.
